I believe you need NEXIS | EDGE which requires Media Composer Enterprise and NEXIS Shared Storage.

[quote user="Russell Anderson"] I was told by someone that having a dedicated set of RENDER partitions on a Nexis can cause Avid MC to be unstable and produce more crashes. Is this verifiable? I like keeping render drives in case I need to clean up the size of the project. But if it's unstable, I'll stop doing it. I can't quite

The short answer is no, ISIS is EOL . While 4.7 is still supported for another month, Avid isn't developing a client that is supported with Monterey. 2020.7.6 is most recent NEXIS client that is supported for use with ISIS. With this in mind, ISIS 4.7.13 is the latest release for the system director and would suggest you update to that. As far as

This is a good thread on the topic.

In the Media Composer > General Settings did you select Enable Bin Sharing on 3rd Party Storage....? This is the NEXIS Forum. Media Composer acts differently on NEXIS vs non-Avid storage.

Are you using NEXIS? Or MediaSpace - EditShare?

It doesn't change the issue that Windows Explorer is optimized to do small reads and writes, I believe it is 4 KB. A Scale Out storage group block size is 512 KB. For optimal performance the R/W should be aligned to this.

I can tell you that the Windows Explorer does a terrible job of copying files. It does very small reads and writes; the exact opposite of what's needed for NEXIS.

[quote user="ck123"] Just a thought. But perhaps what is meant is that you can't mount workspaces with Nexis Client but you can have the Nexis Client installed. When Nexis Client is installed on a workstation, but not connected to Nexis, the normal smb connect methods are available. I do this all the time to quickly access files on a workspace

The File Gateway is a Linux VM and not free, as a science project one could build a beefy VM infrastructure and give it a try. Using Postlab for Bin Locking will require the option for Media Composer to support third party storage. This will disable Bin Refresh in Media Composer. It would be easier to replace the NEXIS with some type of dumb storage
