  • Re: ProRes Raw Issues

Very true, I just love the Baselight tools but seems I need to revert back to Davinci Resolve or Assimilate Scratch then unless I plan on spending 60k for a Full Baselight system 😅😅 In my dreams, lol!! well, I guess I will reinstall Davinci and try out the new features. Hahahaha! I will miss my Baselight for Avid though. The Texture Blend function

Thank you for the video! So basically I do the same as you and I can get a correct exposure by using Linear/2020 transform , then using the Panasonic Raw to Log lut but as soon as I try to color grade using Baselight it crashes. ive also tried your method using rgb and slog but still crashes. Basically I have to transcode the footage if I want to color

That would be amazing!!!!!!! Would I be able to grade in Baselight for Avid too? Super excited if this works!!!!! Been to long since I've been able to use the ProRes Raw workflow. I've had to transcode or only use 10bit 422🥲🥲 appreciate the help and look forward to the video!!!! Thank you

Really appreciate the extensive reply! I have tried every option available as recommended but Avid does not properly adapt to any settings if I want to color grade my ProRes Raw 12 bit Atomos Ninja footage from S1H or any ProRes Raw footage. I've tried using multiple valid transforms and luts but does not work properly. Hopefully Avid will implement

That's actually incorrect as I've been working with Victor from Baselight. There are 5 major bugs/crashes in which I have discovered with him. Regarding ProRes Raw. It will not even open inside Baselight for Avid version 5.2 and beta 5.3. It's a hard crash. You are either lying or have some magic system that can open ProRes Raw.

Me coming from Resolve and having excellent support and ease of use and also the comical ease I had using ProRes Raw in less than 10min using Assimilate and Premier. So simple.. A month ago I took a deep dive into Avid and Baselight and it has been nothing but headaches, crashes and lack of customer support. This is my first experience with Avid and

Exactly! I spent 900.00 plus subscription costs and this is the support we get!? Complete and utter disregard for their customers.

Yes, I tried every method possible. The ProRes Raw footage linked with UME will not look correct in Avid Media Composer. I've tried using different variants of ProRes Raw from different cameras and they all look the same. When you link the ProRes Raw footage you are supposed to use a raw-to-log conversion from camera manufacturer so the raw footage

Panasonic has provided the lut conversion tool for proper color. You have to do a conversation for anytype of raw data. My colorspace IS rec709 but working as a Colorist you start with Log.... Anyhow, I had to uninstall Avid and switch over to Scratch/Premier workflow. It handles ProRes Raw perfectly. Goodbye Avid and thanks for the wonderful support

No, its just a lut to convert from raw to log. https://av.jpn.support.panasonic.com/support/global/cs/dsc/download/lut/s1h_raw_lut/index.html The footage is exposed correctly. Its not that. After linking the Prores Raw fooatge and clicking "source settings" to verify correct inputs it will still look overexposed with crunchy blacks. Also,
