I know, it's part of the path on OSX too. I was more suggesting that Avid just automatically substitute a different character for the slash when you batch export. Just make an encrypted disk image with your files. Much easier than making a brand new codec or video player, the functionality is already built in to OSX, and if it isn't built in to Windows I'm sure there are free programs that will do the same thing. I'm on a security-conscious show, too, and that's what we do.
