hey, nope, that Dell is a gaming monitor, an 8bit TN panel. For photos you want a 10bit IPS panel. Eizo arguably makes the best dektop screens, NEC has some sturdy quality too. Past years Benq has released some quality models at lower prices. Here's a list of all screens 24-27" with a proper display and hardware calibration: https://geizhals

Editor Keys is contemplating mechanical Keyboards for Avid, https://www.pro-tools-expert.com/production-expert-1/would-you-use-a-mechanical-keyboard-for-your-computer I sure did join twitter to upvote the idea on their twitter poll. edit: The current Logic one is better than the Ediror Keys imho, neither are a satisfying replacement for an old mechanical

Hmm? Yes Job, but you only need a pre-amp for surround, for stereo the AES or analog outputs of the decklink will be enough. Just the Decklink Mini is HDMI only and needs an audio disembedder, last time I checked. I'm still using a Mojo DX, connecting its optical audio output to the RME card.

We live in the future man, we don't need reasons. I tell myself this type gear is cheap because it lasts forever, forgetting it's pitfall is it's darn weight. If you have a good space, some geometry, a little bit of acoustic treatment and you get to play with it yourself, I'll highly recommend.
I was getting excited about those 1237's.
If your place is big enough... you need 2,5m listening distance from the speakers. it's 5,5k€ with GLM set.

Yes they are a bit of a gold standard for our line of work. They're more pleasant than most other studio monitors, we can still get our work done fine, and it always sounds good to the customer. I collected 6 or 7 pairs over the years. If you can swing it' i'd much rather suggest a modern digital model 8330, 8340 or even a fairly pricey

Alt+[Track Shortcut] works. like Alt+7 to set preview to V2, Alt+0 to toggle A2 on/off. Since most of us only have V1 & V2 mapped to the keyboard, you might not get awfully far with this.

I know a few folks on widescreen, worked on it myself, is allright. I'd say that it's okay if all you do is avid editing and have an external preview monitor. If you do office tasks as well with many windows open, 2x27" works better. And 4k is overrated imho, 2560x1440 works just as well on a 27" monitor. I'd rather have a high

Sure, but since funds seem to be limited, I'll assume a small shop/home with short runs. And Genelec 8010 only have unbalanced inputs, if he can swing 8020 he can get XLR later.
