  • Re: Xeon or i7?

I shan't point you then to the mobo run down that PC Pro did a few months back where ASROCK beat ASUS for stability and speed in video rendering (givent the same grahpics card and program).

  • Re: Xeon or i7?

Considering that today most mobos above $150 are of near identical quality to any mobo for a Xeon (minus the option for two CPUs, natch) it seems to indicate that I need not bother going Xeon unless I really want to. In the same price range I can buy hexacore i7s and use the left over money for more memory, so that may well be the direction I will go

Hmmmm.... seems to me that it is six of one and half a dozen of the other - most modern CPU (i7, etc) are hyperhtreaded, unless Xeon uses a differnt meaning for that, but there won't be, given the gpu I will emply much difference for me between equal strength CPUs..... Thanks, fellas. First job will be to install teh gpu on my old system so that

  • Xeon or i7?

Time to finally upgrade my 6 year old Core Duo quad core system, which is running way too slow to handle AMC7. Already bought a new graphics card (quadro k2000 - would prefer somethin even bigger, but I am not shelling out 1k for a graphics card at the moment.) and now need to do a new Mobo. With both i7 and Xeons on the table, what is the difference

  • Re: HD timeleine export to SD DVD

Moses: Shot on EX-Cams (wonderful stuff, those) - but the raster is the same on all 1080p. Did a test burn, looked all right, until I stumbled upon a dumb editing error (something left over from an earlier edit and never removed, coz I kept skipping over that section, thinking it done and not noticing it in the timeline overview - dumb, dumb, dumb)

Hmmm...did the transcode - it sqeezed the image, though, and I'm not sure that that will do - when I imported it to Sonic,, and set it to 16:9, it is still wee a bit squeezed.... doing a trial burn to see if it just the interface... If need be, what setting in QT transcode retains the aspect ratio? And - oh, I DO think I'll get a Nitris some

Just running a trial QT transcode now, but if that looks bad, I'll do mixdown, then make a QTref from that.... Have to wait 3 more hours, though... man this is slow - and my CPU is only running on 37% - is the GPU doing the heavy lfiting on this?

Much obliged, jknikman - one of th eparts that is so confusing is that all the turotials I find are for Xpress Pro, and that has a different workflow (slightly) than MC3 - the other is that

Thanks, I'll have a look - can't export QT ref, though - long GOP and all that - I know the first part - how to set up the chapeter marks, etc, and the last part, what to do in Sonic (or any other authoring environment) - it's the middle part - the correct settings in the" send to DVD authoring" dialogue box and in Sorensen Squeeze
