There are certainly valid criticisms of Avid to be made, but to say in response to a spam attack consisting of over 3000 posts that the problem is the admins and mods are neglecting the forum is unfair.
But if 4 days after I posted the screenshot and its deletion by a moderator, the content of the screenshot is still vissible on the main page of the forum, I'm starting to doubt you care more about dealing with those shouting 'Fire!' than putting out 'the Fire'.
I hadn't seen
Is there any way to prevent MC from automatically invoking trim mode unless I consciously select it using the keyboard shortcut? I find it distracrting and timecoonsuming that trim mode is often engaged when I don't want it?
It's hard to say without knowing what you're doing that invokes trim
Actually, I don't know of there is any limit at all. I import my images to last an hour, for liong lasting backgropunds or backdrops. I just type in 3600 seconds and that's it. Do note that this doesn't work when your're linking, instead of importing.
Good tip! Thanks, Miguel!

Timewarp changes the speed of the clip, but not its duration in the timeline. Use trim mode to lengthen the clip in the timeline after you've put the timewarp on it and adjusted the speed.
image duration when importing
In your Import settings > Image tab, there is a box at the bottom left that says 'Frame Import Duration' with a box next to it that allows you to type in a number of seconds. Note: I *think* but I don't remember for sure that the max is 120 seconds.

I think what you want is accomplished by pressing CTRL+ALT while dragging the clip where you want it to go.
And when do hidden keyframes occur?
If you create keyframes on an audio clip and then trim/cut a part of the clip that has keyframes on it, the keyframes still exist on the clip, you just can't see them because the part of the clip where they are is no longer part of the sequence. I hope that made sense

Welcome back, Chris. Yes, it's true. Everything you've heard is true. The only thing I can add is if you're on a Windows machine or a pre-Catalina Mac you still have access to the old Title Tool. Otherwise, Titler+. Many Mac people have taken to using the Subcap effect if it happens to do what they need or if they're just making placeholders
