  • Re: Transcoding frame rates

Hi, no problem it can be a bit confusing at times. previous Avid codecs are named and grouped by their data rate / bit rate and are dependent on raster size & frame rate. for example DnxHD185 is 185 mbit/s and is HD 1920x1080, this format is available at 25 fps. the equivalent at 29.97 is DnxHD220 (220 mbit/s) because of a higher frame rate a higher

  • Re: Easy question :-)

You can also change the start timecode of a sequence by using the Get Info right click menu and overtyping. I've always used Bin Info to get a clip count and duration - be advised though it doesn't always play well with frame rates which are non-naive.

Yes thats correct. If you require an offline codec which isn't on that list you need to transcode within a separte 50fps project an then copy the bins into your 25fps edit project. DNXHR LB is a decent offline codec - Its like a dynamic DNXHD36 - assuming you're working at HD at 50fps the bandwidth will be around 72Mbps.

  • Re: Antimatte or Paint to create basic mask

try having your backround (ungraded) on V1 and the graded masked section on V3. I can't remember if it applied to animatte but from memory sometimes keeping a buffer layer inbetween works. If that doesn't work feel free to post a screengrab of the layers and effects and i'll see if i can advise more. If you're on the latest version wtih

  • Re: Dealing with polywav audio – please Avid, can we sort this out!

That feature would be really nice in offline, pullling the embedded recorder track layout and having it as a selectabe display would be great. I suppose there would need to be a character limit but thats a cool idea and i would think very welome by offline editors!

Hopefully that all works out for you.

  • Re: Replace / Relink Footage

You can change that in Avid but beware that its a permanent 'hard' change so it might be worth having anther copy on hand prior to amending the tape. You could try a softer approach and add some metadata for TapeId (for example) to the original and the clips and relink based on that within the relink dialog. In an ideal world the same metadata

  • Re: Replace / Relink Footage

If you have them both online in the project do thy hold the same metadata? importantly timecode start, end, duration, frame rate. Maybe your original had a different tape/tape id vs the new one? That can throw it off too. Dan

I'd first double check the nablet xdcam plugin versions you have - make sure you've got the right one for that version of MC. Also double check the file paths - for non-standard or special characters. Have you got access to another MC machine? it can help to see if it works on another and then bounce ideas between the two.

  • Re: importing DNG files

I think that you need Resolve to make the proxies unfortunately. There may be a 3rd party plugin for linking to those but i can't be certain. I know BM have moved away from DNG on their newer cameras as its was difficult to implement on edit systems. You should have a free copy of resolve with your camera right? Even the free one will probably work
