Adobe has encountered this issue with Quicktime as well. They state that Quicktime has a problem on any computer that appears to have or actually has 22 or more processor cores. Dual 6-core processor with hyperthreading enabled = 24 virtual processors. There solution does not require turning off hypterthreading. Give it a try and let us know if it works

Media Composer version? Install 6.5.4, if available. If not available, turn off "Use Fast Scrub" under Timeline options.

I'm not speculating a release from Avid, but considering that AMA plug-ins are generally released by camera manufacturers and no production cameras have been released by a manufacturer that records using the HEVC codec, I would infer no Avid support for quite some time. The HEVC specification is still under development.

You don't say what version of Media Composer you're running. I'm assuming it's at least v6.5 since you're trying to run it under 10.8.4. In case you haven't come across the info earlier, Ethernet support for Unity was dropped with v6.0 of Media Composer. So, you won't be able to use Connection Manager and Media Composer on

Denny, Do you any anti-virus programs installed? The problem you are seeing is exactly the same problem I had experienced in the past and eventually traced the problem to Symantec Anti-Virus.
