  • New to Avid - First post

I have started working on Avid, and have had a few growing pains but we like it a great deal. What we did not realie is that we consolidated media (apparently) and... (read more)

Do you have to select the "Transcode only linked media" box?? because I've been transcoding on-set while organizing the project for the Editor and I haven't been selecting this option but the footage is being transcoded in the BG and looks great! Any thoughts or tips on this would be... (read more)

  • Transferring between MC 6 & 7

Hi everyone, I am a student and have recently started working with AVID. I am cutting a short film that I started on an owned copy of MC 6.5 in my school's editing suite. Since then I had (foolishly) downloaded the 30 day AVID MC 7 trial on my Mac at home, where I continued to edit the short. Since... (read more)

Hi, I am on a job using Media Composer 5.5. I am currently working on a project with Avid Media Files on two separate external hard drives. I may have to move these to a tower or single large hard drive and was wondering what the best way to do this is. The project contains sub clips, grouped clips,... (read more)

  • Consolidate: Does NOT consolidate all clips..!?!

Hi All, I'm at work with a few projects, trying to consolidate the timelines onto new HD's. 1: Trying to consolidate the complete timeline (some 28 min.) 99% sure gives a "Error: Reached end of file <filename>." Yes, for some strange reason, AVID does not know what file it's... (read more)

  • How to assign tape numbers to H.264 media.

Hi everyone, I'm about to embark on project setup for a documentary edit on MC6 and have about 150hours of tapeless media from DSLRs to capture. I am limited for space, so am going to use DNxHD36 as the import codec and then online to a delivery format. So I'm assuming I'll need media with... (read more)

  • relink ALL the footage

Hello, I was working with AMA on one project for a very long time. Now I decided to consolidate all raw material on an ISIS. With another machine. With another, older project cause I had to work meanwhile. Now I wanted to replace the older project with the newer hoping that Avid is clever enough to relink... (read more)

  • Importing verses AMA with MXF files

Hey Everyone, So I shoot with a Canon xf100 than makes MXF files on a CF card. Just wondering if I still have to "consolidate" my clips after "importing" them into my new project bin? I import them as DnxHD145. I know you have to consolidate clips after you AMA import them, but I... (read more)
