Now that I have more time, I have started to use MC5 and I have a problem that appears to be a setting in MC that I am unaware of.
I have a project that will involve SD showing 'the now' as against 'the 20 years ago'. Before going into the project full-tilt, I have captured three clips, exported from MC as QT ref files, taken into DVDit Pro 6 and on another occasion into Sorensen Squeeze, and when I take the QT ref .mov files across within the software, the software (DVDit and Sorensen both) asks for a Sonic Cineplayer Decoder pack file. Has anyone else experienced this? Tried a search but without avail.
Alan - I dont know if that is necessarily an audio thing - Sonic are the manufcacturer of DVDit so maybe there is a codec pack that didnt get installed when you installed that.
When you make your QT ref files, as long as the other applications (Avid DVD od Sorrenson Squeeze) are on the same machine it make the most sense to check the box 'use Avid codec'. At least thats what I understand.

Thanks for your response, Matt, it keeps me thinking about what I haven't done - I am still on 5.0 by the way.
I bought DVDit Pro as a download when I upgraded an old copy of MyDVD that I found in my various software collections. Recently re-downloaded the original after a disk crash, so I don't think that I have missed a file.
Sonic/Roxio and Sorenson are different companies and both their software programs state that it is a Cineplayer plug-in that I am missing which suggests to me that it is related to MC. Computers and software are great when it all works - it is when it doesn't that we all learn about how little we know,
OK Alan. I'm in the same boat as you - feeling my way around MC5, but getting firmer on my feet every day.
I thought Cinepak was a codec plug-in used when you export a video file. If it is missing from your machine (dont understand how that might be as far as I know it is installed with MC). All I was suggesting was stick the the 'use Avid codecs' option for exporting to DVDit or Squeeze as long as they are on the same machine and you should have no need of the Cinepak plug-in.Of course I could have made a couple of bad assumptions there, i'm no expert.
Hopefuly someone with more expertise will come along soon and explain all.
