On version 2018.3 in the Source browser you can highlight every clip in the folder by clicking on the yop file, and then shift and clicking on the bottom file.

Are you then going to transcode your files? I used to do it this way, but now create all mxf transcodes using Resolve. You can then use avid for other things.

If you need a simple guide I can try and find the one I give my assistants when they're learning

No I don't want to transcode my files, just link. I know I can use shift but I want to select the prores files from several folder at once.

    1. Open the highest folder level where all the files reside.

    2. Use the Search bar in the Finder window to find all relevant files. For example ".mov" can be used to search for all the MOV files in this location and all its subfolders. (Use "other" category to access "codec" and type "prores" as your qualifier

    3. Drag and alt+drop to your bin.

    4. Buy me a coke and an iTunes gift card

    Dom's suggestion is great.

You *shouid* also be able to do that from the Source Browser if you select the highest folder level, change the find box at the bottom of the window to Search, then entering ".mov"

Then you can select all of those files and link them.

Yes alt+drag works. Thanks! The search box doesn't work. The search doesn't look into the folders.

    Glad Dom's mthod works.

For the record, I am seeing at least one folder down in searches here, could be a difference between the MC versions we're running.

Yes the search works in the folder but doesn't search inside the folders which are in the folder

Interesting. I just selected my hard drive (top level), and it found all of the movies on my system, some of which were 6 levels deep.

    /Volume/Users/[user]/Desktop/folder/folder/Render folder/.mov file

I have something weird. The search finds all the mov files on my system drive but its not working with my extrenal Thunderboldt 3 drive.

Index was broken beacuse of not ejecting the drive properly.

I tried to link 2800 files. Its not working. I can select all the files but when I drag them in the bin nothing is happening. Its working with one file.

You might want to try smaller batches...2800 might be a bit much using the Finder method. Maybe a couple hundred at a time?
