ISIS 5000 "system drive", need to be from Avid?

Hi, have a system without support contract where now the system log says:

    "System drive fault detected"

Can I replace it with a random drive or need it be ordered from Avid?

OR can I take one from an other existing ISIS 5000? And format it first?

I believe you need to get the replacement system drive from Avid. A drive from another 5000/5500 will also work.

Personally, I suggest you run SpinRite on the disk prior to replacement to see if it's a software issue.

The ISIS 5xxx system drives are generic 2.5" HDD. You can use any retail drive you like. It is not firmware locked unlike the media drives.

    ok, is this 100% sure?

and one other question. -let say that drive 2 also would go down, would I be able to recover with a backup of  the files partition0 + partition1 + PartitionDump.bin?
