Re: Benchmarks for those who build their own computers.

    Hey everyone,

Interesting read for sure.  I'm curious if anyone has installed the i9-9900k yet?  How is performance compared to the 8700k or the 7800x?  Does anyone at Avid have any insight to this unit?

    Thanks!

cpu performance scales predictably (unless you're talking about 24+ cores).

So if you know how media composer handles cores and clock speed (varies with what youre doing), then you have your answer.

With no drive or ram bottlenecks.

You will almost always get 100% core usage when transcoding and exporting ama.  So a 16 core will transcode almost double the speed of an 8 core (

You'll get minimal core usage when rendering (such a shame) and clock speed with help.

intels cpu architechture doesnt change with every generation, and software developers don't have to re-code anything for every individual cpu.

Hi. Can’t compare the 9900k to other CPUs, but I recently put togerher a budget editing PC with a 9900k. Overall very satisfied, but of course if you use to much effects you’ll have to render them for playback. Especially for UHD material. Overall satisfied for a budget build.
