Media Composer 8.7 Released today (Dec 15th 2016)

This new release is available for customers with a valid support & Upgrade plan from My Avid Master Accounts, Application Manager, and the Avid Download Center (login and password required).

ReadMe:   The ReadMe is posted to the Knowledge Base “ Media Composer 8.x Documentation” page.

What’s New for the current release:
    -  List Tool Changes
    -  Audio Dupe Detection
    -  Extended Audio Punch In

    -  Sony XAVC LongG
    -  New Safe Area and Safe title options
    -  Rotation Presets in FrameFlex
    -  Controlling which track is shown in Split View
    -  Audio Default Pan
    -  Timecode Burn-in Effect Local Frame Count
    -  Bin Enhancements
    -  and more…

The “ Whats New” has been posted to the Knowledge Base “ Media Composer 8.x Documentation” page.

Important:   MC v8.7 now allows for matchframing matte keys and title media. However, this will only apply to matte keys and titles placed into timelines in v8.7 and forward. Old titles and keys will not matchframe back (the metadata simply isn’t there in your sequences). You can edit old titles in the timeline (or Recreate Titles) and those should matchback, but the only way to matchback old matte keys is to recut them into a sequence in 8.7.Media Composer.       IMO  this is GREAT NEWS along with some useful changes like being able to set a default bin.
