ISIS 5500 - Error - File in use

    Hello guys!

I have a Big problem and I'd really appreciate your help.

I bought ISIS 5500 for my company and we use it to locate ongoing projects.

We work directly from ISIS. However, later on, when the project is over, we back it up on another server. So we have to move some folders and files. Here comes the problem - it's impossible because of an Error "File in use - The action can´t be completed because the file is open in another program".

This is now true, since we've checked million times, that file is not actually in use. I tried some programs such as: Unlocker, FileASSASSIN, LockHunter, but nothing worked.

Has anyone dealt with it? Any ideas on how to resolve this?

    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Regards,2

    ANy particvular file causingt heissue?

How are you actually moving the files? I presume you are sing the ISIS client to mount the workspaces and then copying the files locally?

    Imagine...

    I have a workspace with name: Projects_2015

Inside Projects_2015 I have a lot of folder with diferent projects.

    Exemple, like: Nintendo_2015 / Nokia_2015 / Microsoft_2015

When one project is done, I copy the folder name: Nintendo_2015 to Proavio Server (Backup) and LTO Final Backup.

When the copy is done, I tryed to delete the project Nintendo_2015 and some files are deleted others not, and this is the problem!

We cannot delete them anymore when that errors appears!

And sometimes, we cant open the folder...

A big mess I have with this ISIS 5500...

I assume ou are using the ISIS client to access the workspaces as mounted drives.

Is there any consistency to the files that show as in use? What filenames do they have?

    Yes!

Im using the ISIS client to creat workspaces and all it is mounted drivers.

Unfortunately, it is impossible to delete some files or folders

We tried to access the server from several computers, etc. Regarding the file names.. I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Names are different, but under common basic rules of naming: latin characters, no special symbols, no spaces, etc.

    Thank you for your response.

Have you restarted the computer that's doing the copying? This often resolves the issue as the OS has the file open. We've made some fixes in this area recently so you should be running the latest version if at all possible.

What version of ISIS are you running - both the System Director and client?

Do the files have the Read-only Attribute? These are designed to not be deleted as Media Composer uses this to lock clips in a bin. Still an application like  FileASSASSIN should allow them to be deleted.

    hello

    Thanks for your answer...

Restart the computer dont do nothing, because the files are inside of a Workspace, add like a network disc / New Partition...

I have like more than 10 computer´s connected with the workspace´s.

we use Avid Media Composer and Premiere.

I dont know what is the version (and im not at work right now).

I dont know if this is about of diferent Windows? I have some computers with Wimdows10, others with Windows7, others with Eindows 8... Etc... ?

Or i need enter on the ISIS computer? But the ISIS computer dont have the Workspace...

The worspaces we manage it with the browser!

And turn of the workspaces, dont resolve nothing either.

    Thanks for help

Re: ISIS 5500 - Error - File in use

A computer likely has the files in question open. You need to restart all the computers or the System Director itself to get the lock released.

On Windows unmounting workspaces with the client manager still leaves them mounted via an UNC path. You would need to login with a user that doesn't have access to the workspaces for them to be truely unmounted.

I strongly suggest you update to the latest version of the ISIS. We don't technically support Windows 10 at this point, the client is working - as you can see - but there's an issue downloading it via the Management Console that we're looking at.
