    GPU suggestion: gtx580

Hello trying to boost performance of my pc

    i have now a I7-2600k 3.40ghz

    16 gb Ram

    Win 7 64 bit on a 256 SSD

    avid media 8.4

Now for gpu i have a Nvidia GTX650

found for few money a zotac gtx 580

surely it s a better gpu. i am concerned for heat and power consumption

    is it worthy?

    thanks

I think that most people stick to the supported list of Quadro's, Media Composer will not use your GTX for any acceleration.

There are links to qulaified setups here:

    http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/compatibility/Media-Composer-System-Requirements

Some people do find that GTX work perfectly well of course but they're not tested by Avid themselves and therefore not qualified.

i know aboiut the list(by the way i don t see them in the link)

at the same time i know there are many cards that work well even if they are not in the list

what i am concerned is about power consumptuon and over heating

so i am thinking if it is worthy to upgrade from gtx650 to 580

or consider alternative like gtx 660

    in what performance will change?
