    Yes long time request and much wanted needed.

    Exactly. And still we users didn't get one plausible answer yet, why such a basic (!) function is still missing. What Avid needs to understand is, that it is going to die soon, if the software is not keeping up with other NLE. This is serious! I'm watching the german TV production market, and everywhere I look, companies are switching to adobe. Unfortunately for good reasons! Avid: The transfer mode is such a basic and daily used function in today's NLE software world. Something like that can't just still be missing. IT CAN'T. Frustrating enough to switch to a different NLE.
    Even Walter Murch (!!!) switched to adobe last year. Can't blame him.
    Avid: This is a long known issue. Plase work on it.

    It should be done by Avid, for sure.

    But I wonder why nobody is creating a simple transfer plug-in for let's say $20. I think almost every advanced Media Composer user would buy that.

    Re: Transfer Modes

    If you no longer have the resources to do it yourself, there are heaps of algorithms and code fragment libraries on the internet that will do it for you.  Here are two functions that I just threw together because I was bored on the day after a late New Year's Eve party.  They are written in Cg, and took about 5 minutes.  They shouldn't be too hard to port across to whatever programming language and libraries you're currently using.  Consider them a New Year's gift.

    float4 fn_screen (float4 Fgd, float4 Bgd)
    // Emulates the classic graphic program "Screen" function
    {
       float4 fg = (1.0 - Fgd), bg = (1.0 - Bgd);

       float4 retval = fg * bg;

       return (1.0 - retval);
    }

    float4 fn_diff (float4 Fgd, float4 Bgd)
    // Emulates the classic graphic program "Difference" function
    {
       return abs (Fgd - Bgd);
    }

    MC 7.0.4 - Asus P6T Deluxe V2 mobo - Intel i7 920 2.66GHz - Windows 7 Ult64 SP1 - nVidia Quadro FX 1800 - 16 Gbyte low latency DDR3 RAM - Internal 8 Tb... [view my complete system specs]
