Maintaining line 21 captions in ISIS

Our station records everything on Airspeed 5000's in dv25 MXF.  A lot of what we do is archiving shows as they go to air with closed captions.  When we play things back directly from the Airspeed, captions are maintained.  When shows are archived on ISIS (from the airspeed), then sent to an Airspeed for playback to air (via Newscutter / Media Composer), captions are absent.  This is the first place I've used MXF, and it appears to store captions differently (VAUX?).  Any clue as to where captions are being discarded, and, more importantly, how to maintain them?

In Airspeed 5k, there is a setting in your destination template for "transfer ancillary data", make sure this is enabled.

In interplay Access/Assist/Newscutter/MediaComposer you will be able to see if there is a data track appended to the clip. If there is no data track appended to the clip after it is transferred from airspeed, then the transfer is stripping the data track. If the data track exists, it is being stripped during STP, in which case, workgroup transfer settings or local system transfer settings may hold the key.

Wouldn't this just be used to maintain HD captions? I'm losing SD, visible-in-the-image captions.

EDIT: I'm thinking we need to use a different codec.  Isn't dv25 only 720x480, thus discarding the caption line?  If that's so, does anyone know a similar (quality/file size) popular codec that we can edit natively in Avid?

Re: Maintaining line 21 captions in ISIS

We use IMX 30 (720x486) extensively for SD content on our Airspeed classics, & line 21 captions are preserved & visible from the Avid Editors.

    Hope this helps,

Actually, this is the solution I came to as well.  Probably should have posted it here for future answer-seekers.  Thanks!
