    DS 11 backwards compatible?

Was wondering if a project started in 10.3.9, then saved in 11.0 can be finished in 10.3.9....it seems we're having all sorts of issues with this very situation...

    Thoughts?

    Re: DS 11 backwards compatible?

Avid DS is not and has never been forward compatible, meaning that projects and sequences started in one version can be opened in a newer release but then the data is updated for this build and it cannot be reused in a previous version.

The proper way to protect data for a version is to perform a project archive.

If a project is opened, even accidentally, in a newer DS release, the archive can be restored in the previous release and it will work again as the data matches its build version.
