It was not ilike that in Toronto when I worked at a post houses there either. Maybe where you are from had a huge sale on green cable. The colours of the cables don't really mean much. If it is digital, then as long as the 0's and 1's are getting where they need to be, then they could be plad.

Funny I hadn't really noticed that, but it's peaked my curiosity and we've got thousands of miles of newly installed networking. When I get back on Monday, I'm going to wander through our machine core and look at cable coloring.

Larry, your interest meters may have "peaked" but your curiousity was more probably "piqued" - let us know what you learn once you've "peeked" through the machine core. Ha ha.

All of our video & audio cables are black, with serial number labels that match the drawings.  Ethernet are:  Blue for IT, Purple for production, and Yellow for Avocent KVM.

Re: why are they doing that?

HOLY CROW! I posted a reply saying I never had green cables at my post houses. As soon as I seen that this thread was getting some attention something popped right into my head. I was recently at a college that just had a newly installed studio. So new that it was not comletely finished when I got there. GUESS WHAT? It was all green cable.... WEIRD!

We used colored cables when we can to make it easier to differentiate (ie SD SDI vs HD SDI).

When I used to build rental-type systems, we also used color-coded cables for ease of diagnostics.

Maybe all these green cables are somehow "eco-friendly", and want to be recognized as such.
