I'm using MC5.5 and I'm considering purchasing the Sony NX5U camera recording in Sony's AVCHD format. Does Sony have a "quick" conversion program like Panasonic does for getting these files into the Avid quickly. Importing is like watching paint dry.
Thanks
Steve

So far its disappointing not getting a response. This is the best forum I belong to and you guys are my "go to guys."
All the clips I have tried from AX2000 came into MC fine.
They are faster than RT.
I don't know about this one but I could imagine Sony to use the same codec.

It's beginning to look like Sony's AVCHD is a very different breed of codec. I've had a lot of compatibility probs with PCM audio encoding and the Sony AVCHD codec that comes on the NEX-FS100. Yet, there are apps that deal with it just fine...like Adobe Media Encoder, After FX CS5.5, and TmpGenc Master Works 5. I think it's a case of application technology lagging camera hardware. In time, everything will be made clear.

Im a underwater hobbyist with a Sony Nex 5 which imports fine using DNxHD 120 (HD 1080i)
Obviously a lower format than the NX5, but still quicker than capturing from tape.
Would love an NX5 though.
Sorry cant be of much help.
Regards
Hugh
