THE PROBLEM: I opened AVID MC and my left mouse button(s) keep getting stuck.
HOWEVER, the weirdest thing is that it is ONLY getting stuck in AVID.
ALSO, I have a logitech MX revolution and an Apple Trackpad and BOTH of these get stuck on AVID ONLY.
I am going to uninstall and reinstall AVID, but I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem.
ALSO, I've tried everything, restartin AVID, restarting the Mac, opening another project... nothing worked...
Much thanks! :)
UPDATE: The application rightzoom.app was conflicting with Media Composer. I excluded mediacomposer from this app, and everything is running at 100%. Phew!
Right Zoom is a micro app that lets you full screen any window when you press the green button on top.It was featured on lifehacker and I had forgotten I had downloded it... Doh!
MANY MANY THANKS TO THOSE THAT RESPONDED!

In know that it's possible to assign buttons 3,4, and 5 within the 'Mouse' settings in the settings tab of the project window, but as for the problem I'm not sure, unless there is another way of assigning them to a specific program?
I've uninstalled and reinstalled AVID and nothing :(
I am really frustrated...
Will try repairing permissions...
OK, this is what is happening:
The "right-click" (on either the mouse or trackpad) has a 6-SECOND DELAY.
I click and won't let go until 6-SECONDS later... WTH?!
If anyone has any insight on this I'd love to hear it...
And again, this is ONLY happening in Media Composer...

First, since your system spec's are not complete - what MAC OS are you on?
Did you downlaod the Logitech Control Center (LCC) software so you could customize the mouse?
Have you gone into the control center and tied to change the settings?
Do you have the lastest Logictech software? http://www.logitech.com/en-us/428/130?section=downloads
Did this EVER work? Did you upgrade something and then it didnt work?

I dont think it's a problem with MC even though it only happens there.
Maybee a hardware conflict problem or a few problems that together makes MC delay your mouse action.
Try the following:
1.) Check you SMART failure status with disk utility. If ok go on, if not, stop backup and replace HD.
2.) Check how much memory you have in About this mac. See if all are active and OK. If not, stop, replace faulty ram module and go on.
3.) Verify disk ( not permissions, just verify volume structure, etc, etc...) using Disk utility then repair if needed.
4.) Use washing machine to delete ALL (Quicktime, etc, etc) cache.
5.) Use Cocktail to run daily, weekly and mothly tasks. Clear log files, repair disk permissions
6.) De-activate licence and remove completely Avid MC from your system. Remove absolutely EVERYTHING Avid.
7.) Restart Mac and zap p-ram
8.) Run Disk utility and repair disk permissions again.
9.) Check to see RAM again.
10.) Run Avid MC install.
11.) Try running MC
If it dosent work I think it could be a dificult conflict to pinpoint.
Cheers,
Eric
TO MODERATOR:
I do have Logitech Control Center, but nothing has been modified.
I did a "security uptade" (which by the way, I'm on the newest osx 10.6.7)HOWEVER... I swapped my backup of the Mac HD drive in (which is a replica, but the backup was done before the system update) and still the SAME PROBLEM. :(
TO ERIC:Thank you so much for your suggestions... I tried them alll, but still the same thing...
NOW: I am going to downgrade to 5.02 and see if that helps at all...
ALSO: when in AVID, the mouse ONLY gets STUCK in buttons, the TIMELINE and in the little timeline under the monitors...
It does NOT get "STUCK" in:--the tabs of the SETTINGS (bins, settings, effects, usage, info). BUT it gets "stuck" on any preference underneath any tab.--the hamburger menus all work!
I'll post my results after I downgrade. Thanks.
I also experience this issue when Running
Teleport! I had to Unstall! All the issues went away but i really miss Teleport! Back to 2 Keyboards and 2 Mice!
I have this today with MC 8.3.1. I don´t have the few thousand $ for the quadro card right now and the geforce doesn´t work properly with nvidia drivers. I am instead running the drivers that windows installs automatically. This allows me to run MC 8 at all.
Anyone else solved this Geforce issue with 8?
I could - of course - plug in my oooooold quadro card, since the graphics processors don´t do a whole lot for avid anyway. The weirder I find it that you need the most expensive gfx hardware in order to be qualified... But as I am also using Lightroom and photoshop and the like - well, geforce. mousehang. reboot. An hour of editing - reboot. Great stuff.
Sorry for the rant, but 8 has been the most unstable version for me in years.
Definately call support Thomas.... 8.3.1 is VERY stable so there is some hardware or software issues going on that are causing this.

I know this is a very old thread - but I just want to say this solved my problem, thank you for figureing out it was "Rightzoom.app" and publishing your solution - saved me from a day of frustration trying to figure out why Avid was misbehaving.
Adding myself to this list. I think Magnet may have been the issue. Just disabled it for Media Composer and will update this post if things go smoothly for a few days.
