    Nelson:

    If you're in the United States, call 1-800-800-2843 during normal business hours and choose option #2. This is a free call.

    If you're outside the US, here is an overseas contact list.

    If this is an emergency and you need help immediately, email Avid Customer Advocate Marianna and be sure to include your system ID and serial number in the email.

    On the documentation that came with the upgrade box you should also be able to find the system ID number. But if all you can find is the serial number and your software is already properly registered in your name, they should be able to work with that.

    Re: It Happens!!

    These kind of things remind me that I should do a backup soon

    * Intel core i7 (3,7 Ghz), 16gb RAM, GeForce GTX 580 3gb - workstation. * Macbook Pro Retina 15 (late 2013) 16gb Ram - Laptop * DeckLink Extreme3D with... [view my complete system specs]

    64 bit, GPU acceleration, better AMA, better exports with GPU acceleration, better grading with true secondary and lift gamma gain, higher resolutions (4K, 5K etc.) and a video stream online (for directors being far away on the phone or skype).

    That would blow ANY competition away and it will be future-proof MC for a long time.

    Nelson,

    From your email it sounds like your data files and your MC files are on the same drive.  It would be helpful if you were to post your complete system specs so the assistance you get would be more meaningful.

    Sorry for your loss, but the data files can be rebuilt, and the system restored.  Education is expensive and painful at times.  Best of luck and happy editing.

    I can vouch for the ease of use of Acronis.  I back up every night just to not have to revisit the panic that you are experiencing now.

    We also use "Beyond Compare" for any major PC-based file copying.  It can also be used to Sync volumes or folders.  Even between two systems accross a LAN.

    In this "digital age", pretty much everyone should own a fairly large RAID-5 storage system for their pix and other important docs.  Using Beyond Compare, I recently copied the entire My Documents folder on my PC to the RAID-5 storage on my Avid (approx 8TB's net after raid & overhead).
