Re: May be falling in love with this camera ! avchd in MC5 - any issues ?

Im somewhat confused with what your saying, I am trying to import some AVCHD files copied from Panasonic FP2 compact camera, are you suggesting MC cant import/edit these files.

I get the error :The edit rate of the clip 50.00 does not match the project rate of 25.00.

I was going to buy one of these for underwater filming, a lot smaller than my existing setup.

    Thanks

Update: I found some other threads on the Lite AVCHD which state files have to be converted first. DOH!

Panasonic AVCHD Lite files do import into MC without problems. Make a new 720p project with a 25fps framerate and then try importing the files. You can then copy the imported files to your working project. I have a Panasonic ZS7 which creates AVCHD Lite format files and they work fine with MC5.

Re: May be falling in love with this camera ! avchd in MC5 - any issues ?

Actually, its not sorted as my footage is importing at double speed. Im using the 720p/50 setting, this is all that works. Any thoughts.

Ive seen on another thread, you have to use an external program to convert the footage first.

Is there a way of importing AVHCD lite without converting first.

    Thanks

Re: May be falling in love with this camera ! avchd in MC5 - any issues ?

    LewS:
I have a Panasonic ZS7 which creates AVCHD Lite format files and they work fine with MC5.

I also have a Panasonic ZS7,record in AVCHD lite format which is 1920X1080. Every time I Import mts files in to avid ( MC 5.03), it alway pop up these message : " The edit rate of the clip ( 59.94) does mot match the project edit rate ( 29.97). This message try me carazy because my project is set at 1080i/59.94, Raster Type 1920X1080.

I make a new 720p project as you suggest.. this time the message is "..... down not match the project edit rate (25)

    Any idea for this camera?

On the Format tab your project type should be 720p/59.94. Is that the type of project you created to import the AVCHD files?

Re: May be falling in love with this camera ! avchd in MC5 - any issues ?

Thanks, Avid import OK now after I make a new project 720p/59.94. My next question is will I lose quality since I 've been shooting and editing HD with my Sony Z1U camera, using 1080i/59.94 format.

    Sorry for my spoken english.

I just notice that the video speed is faster than regular. My import setting is DNxHD145MXF. I also trying to AMA link but It show error.

You don't want to work in that 720p project. You just want to use that project to import the AVCHD media. Go back to your 1080i project, open the bin from your 720p project and copy the AVCHD files into a bin in your 1080i project. You can now drop them onto your timeline and MC will scale them to fit the video format of that project.

Re: May be falling in love with this camera ! avchd in MC5 - any issues ?

Thankyou for taking time to explain to me in details, but to me it's still not working. What I did:

    - Open a new project named lumix 720p, setting 720p/59.94 ; rater type 1080/720. I imported mts file no problems. Then I closed this lumix 720p project.

    - Open a new project name lumix 1080i, setting 1080i/59.94, raster type 1920/1080. I then openend the bin from lumix 720p project, draged imported file from this bin to the time line (I could not copy this file as you suggested). The video speed is still not normal. It look like in slow-fast forward mode.

    What I did wrong?

Re: May be falling in love with this camera ! avchd in MC5 - any issues ?

You are right. I see the problem. Looks like MC does not handle these files correctly. The video appears to be double speed while the audio is correct. You will have to transcode to another format before bringing into MC. I converted a file to MOV using my Aunsoft MTS converter and that worked fine in MC. I will see if I can get Avid to look at this.
