You are right. There's no possibility (as far as i know) for using the MBP 15" with the matrox mini.
I also own a mac pro with pci, which I use for the matrox mini.
Ok, thanks for clarifying, thought of taking a fast look at this as I haven´t seen any memory probs myself with my MBP and the MMM

I'm still having 'out of memory' issues on Symphony with 5.0.3.7r. I'm just applying blur effects to shots and tracking them. After about an hour I'm out of memory again.
MC5.0.3.7r / OSX10.6.4 / 2x3GHz Quad core with 14GB 800MHz DDR2
I too received the memory error again yesterday, after installing 5.0.3.7r. Unfortunately, this memory leak is not fixed.

I've let Avid know. I'll let you know if I hear something.

Same problem here on one of our machines (Vista 64 8GB RAM Quadro FX 1800)
Mem% increases constantly until it maxes out and Avid MC crashes. Even when doing nothing!!!!
Rate of increase is higher when using online media (2:1) or effects and CC.
This happened not very often on the same machine with 3.0.1 but has become critical since we upgraded it to 5.0.3
Waiting for a FIX
I am very sorry to report that my leak is back, too. It is not as huge as with the 5.0.3.5er patch.
I got a crash or the "segmentation fault" error every 15 minutes with the 5er patch. Now with the .7 patch every hour or so.
I am working on a 3hour sequence with nearly just multiclips. (might be a reason)...
Simple steps that will crash MC (5.0.3.7, on Mac 12 cores, 6GB of ram, nitris dx attached):
1 Link a Ama Volume containing RED (works ok-memory load goes to 25%)
2 The new bin that results has something like 30 clips. Drag all the clips to timeline
3. The resulting sequence has something like 2h, memory load goes to 95%. The MC will vaporize when it will try to load in monitor the first frame. If you have draft quality enabled it will let you do 2 or 3 moves until it will crash

Any news relating to the Out of Memory Error? Its nearly half a year now since MC 5 was released with this error. something should happen...!

No additional status updates at this time, sorry. I have a standing request for an update. As soon as I get something, I will post it.

Any News?
What about 5.5? is this the answer to the memory leak, or are there the same problems?
I had the "Out Of Memory Error" after two hours testing 5.5.1
Only one Bin was open with one sequence (less than one minute) and a few Master- and Sub-Clips.
I also had a lot of Bus Errors during the test. It seems a little buggy to me.
Installed the Patch 5.0.3.9 in which the first line in the readme bug fixes says "The memory counter on the Macintosh systems spiked unusually to 100% while editing relatively simple sequences."
During the first test day, the memory climbed to 100% and crashed many times. Worst with hour long sequences with many unrendered effects. We were testing using AMA Xdcam medias. Our next project will be shot with the F3. I'm afraid we will have painful editing sessions...
Greetings....
The out of memory error is seen here on 6 x MacPro, ATI, Dual 6 core 12GB RAM systems, OSX, 10.6.4 and are a mixture of MoJo DX and MX02 clients..
These are connected to Interplay v2.2.1, ISIS5000 v3.1.0, Media Composer v5.0.3.9 (was v5.0.3.8). Again, simple sequences and very small projects will see the memory climb and then error with the usual 'out of memory' error. The same error is seen on larger projects too, so the issue apparant across the board. Clearing bin memory does nothing and an exit of the application is required to clear the memory.
One thing noticed is that you can continue to open and close the same bin over and over again and watch the memory climb. Has anyone else with the memory error noticed the memory climb when opening and closing the same bin multiple times?
Also, on the systems with the memory error do you have Sapphire AVX v3 installed?
Many thanks in advance for the replies.

Install PowerMac board, Control panel, Turn on PowerMac board, Vrooommmmm.. woohooo, install 5.51 PPC :-)

About the same here. Anythings you do makes memory climb and never go down. I was thinking doubling RAM to compensate (6gb now) but as I see, it does not help. For me, working with AMA Xdcam is the worst case scenario to make this happens. When working with only DNx media, it does not cause so much troubles.
I also have sapphire v3 installed everywhere. Could it be an issue? I will make some test around that for sure..
