I can confirm the following errors when doing rapid trimming actions on a 90 minute timeline.

AMA transcoded to DNX36. Mxo2 mini - HDMI 1080 out.

    Exception: std: exception, what:std::bad alloc

James, if you disconnect the MXO2 mini and run soft only, do you still get the same errors? I'm trying to establish if there's a strong enough correlation between the memory errors and using the I/O hardware to warrant escalating this specific situation, since the memory issue itself is already escalated.

How many of you that are experiencing the memory crashes are using Sapphire plug-ins?  I'm trying to discover any pattern in my workflow here.  Thanks!

Re: MC5 Bin Memory - Excessive?

I am still having numerous out of memory issues on several workstations on v5.0.3.1. I can't afford to update to v 5.0.3.2 due to high production activity especially if it makes no difference.

All are on MacPros, some of them brand new and two on iMacs.

It's happening on Matrox, Analogue and SDI Mojo and Adrenaline.

It happens on the iMacs without any external monitoring/Mojo device attached and sequences have minimal effects...some none at all. There is nothing specific that causes the crashes.

Do we know if Avid are on the case here?

Yes, Avid is aware of this...the memory leak is already in escalation and being worked on, but at this point there is not enough reliable replication to indicate that the I/O hardware is directly related to it, as well as other factors (like Sapphire) possibly being suspect as well.

Thanks Larry, but just so Avid know, I don't have Sapphire on my system, and my timeline contains no effects (I'm just sync pulling) but still I have to restart once an hour when I have my MX02 box enabled.

Hi Larry...any further info from Avid on this problem yet? The only comment I have seen is the price increase!!

Several clients are requesting roll-backs to v4 for editing workstations but having one v5 for an AMA ingest workstation. Sounds sensible but, if there is a imminent fix to v5 then I might just wait.

We just rolled back to 4.x on our Fox episodic because of issues with 5. This memory leak is disastrous.

I'm having the same issues here, but on a software-only system. So 5.0.3 on osx 10.6.4. Working on a 130' feature film, 24p.

I've imported subtitles with the Sub Cap effect, and the out of memory message pops up when I start correcting some of the subtitles. Like every 5-10 corrections.

Annoying, but at least the system still allows you to save...

Patch 5.03.5 now. Still nothing in the README which states that the issue has been fixed.

This has been going on for months, is a serious problem and affects many. What's going on? Falling from grace.
