Hello everyone I may have read this somewhere else. I have MC4 it is register but I have not installed it on my system. Do I have to install MC4 before I download MC5 or can I just do direct download of MC5 and install it on my system without MC4 in placed?
do I have to uninstall first
*edit*: OK, post was edited. I respinded to the title of the thread. If you already have v4 installed, you need to uninstall MC4 before installing MC5. If you don't have any version of MC installed, you can simply install MC5 on a system.
Wait, what? You can't do a clean install of MC5 if your license is an upgrade?
So if you reformat your system at any point in the future you have to install some version of MC4 THEN install MC5?
Each upgrade is a full install. Where did you get the idea that you have to install MC 4 first? You don't and never have had to install a previous version before installing a MC upgrade.
Avid recommends a full uninstall of Media Composer and the Digi driver before doing an install or upgrade.

I'm guessing that somewhere between the time that Job replied to this Thread and you read it, the OP had edited the wording of their original question.

MC 5 installed here on a new drive with just the OS on it with no trouble. In fact it was an easier install than removing MC 4 to enable the MC 5 install.
So if you have an updated dongle or a valid software activation I do not believe that you need to install MC4 at all.
Edited my reply.
