Guys,
When I try to open AudioSuite, my Avid Media Composer 3.0 freezes up. When I try to open a bin which contains any sequence, it also freezes.
I was using AMC 3.0 normally, and then one day this issue have started, and I can't remember what did I do to cause it.
I have Windows XP SP3, with Adobe CS4 installed on it (after effects, encore, photoshop, illustrator).
Quicktime version is 7.6.5
The only extra software I have installed was Sorenson Squeeze 5.0.2 (which I have uninstalled after the issue, but was useless)
I also installed the Sapphire Plug-ins v2.0, but I already uninstalled it too.
The first time the bug came, I had to reformat the drive and do a fresh new Windows installation from zero! The problem was solved, until... SOMETHING HAPPENED! The same problem again.... I don't want to be condemned to reinstall windows everytime this issue comes up!
I've already tried to reinstall digidesign audio drivers and Avid Media Composer, with no success.
Somebody help please!
is the system crashing when you open bins with sequences with audio suite-effects, maybe? if so, have a look at this:

I can see a couple of possible probs here.
First, install the correct version of Quicktime, link is posted from the pinned top threads of this forum.
You might also want to install the latest free version for you of MC 3,0 from the download center, that version has number 3,13.
If this don´t solve your probs you might also want to install an external audiocard from the Soundblaster family, remember in that case to disable your onboard audio when you have installed the new card and be sure that is has PCI connections and not PCI-e

the MC versions pre 4,x might not work well together with IE 8, if the probs doesn´t dissapear, a downgrade to IE 7 might be needed if IE 8 currently is installed
Tomas
thanks, daapap, but upgrading the interlok driver didn't work.
will try other stuff
SOLVED!!!
It was Internet Explorer 8. I downgraded it to IE7 (a difficult thing to do, after you have SP3), and voila!
Thank you VERY MUCH mjolnarn, I'd have NEVER EVER EVER imagine that a web browser could interfere with AVID.
thank you all!
Very good that it solved your probs Gabriel, happy to have been able to assist, happy editing

You might like to check out this article in Microsoft's knowledge base. While you've already uninstalled IE8, it could pay to check that you've got rid of everything. There's also useful information here.
