I am trying to work out how to add a nice drop shadow to my imported png that contains an alpha.
I know the 'matte key' effect is automatically added, but this has no drop shadow feature unless you promote to 3d but even then you can't soften it.
Does anyone know of an effect I can replace the 'matte key' effect with that will give me a decent drop shadow?
I have tried some of the boris effects but I can't work them out to get the drop shadow. Duplicating the layer, darkening it and then blurring it is way too much hassle in my eyes. This is a simple effect that should be possible in my eyes....I hope I am missing something!
Thanks for any advice on this.

Simplest add standalone BCC Drop shadow effect. Select Apply to Title Matte and adjust to taste.
Oh thank the lord! I'm glad I was just being blind.
Thanks a lot Andrew!

Sounds easy enough but I can't figure it out. I have BCC, I have an After-Effects created title with Alpha. Do I apply the BCC effect on top of the title? Any online tutorials that can help me figure this out? Wiling to pay for a one-on-one zoom tutorial. I promise I'm a fast learner.
Have you called Boris? Neil and the rest are super helpful and willing to walk you through anything, regardless of your contract status. I have BCC for Avid and just got the cross-grade to AE for my Avid BCC licence for a good price, which was awesome for us Boris users wanting to apply Boris knowledge to AE and Premiere.
