I am using the same version, are you seeing the green video during the encoding process or when importing it into MC?
Tomas
While encoding (in the preview monitor)
and of course while importing in MC afterwards.

Ok, sorry to say, but there are no settings in the transcoder to change codecs, it might not be possible to use it for this kind of clips.
Just to try and test another encoder, there are trial versions, maybe with waterstamps, from mainconcepts website.
nice sales pitch shirley..!!!!!
i see all your recent posts are pushing this product. now we know why you a member here :)

Yes, I have also noticed that, but as the converters from mainconcept has worked well I see no need to change brand, new apps are coming all the time, recommendations to use them should come from some experienced well known editors I think rather than from the sales department for the new app.
Does anyone know if Procoder 3 can do this conversion as well? I don't have files to test here, but I did confirm that Procoder 3's "Quicktime plugin" conversion allows you to select DNxHD codecs for "quicktime movies." I also know that Procoder specs state the ability to read AVCHD files. The only question seems to be whether or not your specific "brand" of AVCHD files can be read correctly by Procoder since AVCHD does not appear to be a very "standardized" standard.
Does anybody have any experience with Procoder for AVCHD-to-DNxHD comversions? Sorenson always screws up playback of certain streaming files for me (including version 5), so I prefer Procoder (I always have to uninstall Squeeze to get streaming to work properly.)
Thanks,
Larry
I guess that one of the ups with using the encoder we just mentioned is the possibilities to use AMA for direct import, works very nice, Procoder might create a file if it works and in that case, with the correct settings, it might fast import, the AMA workflow is much faster and easier I think.

Forgive me, but which post are you referring to when you say "using the encoder we just mentioned."? I'm confused by what specific workflow you're advocating. Aren't we talking about creating DNxHD files from AVCHD files? If so, what difference does it make which encoder is used to do it as long as you end up with DNxHD files?
Also, doesn't AMA only work with XDCAM, P2, or GFCAM files? How does this relate to AVCHD to DNxHD conversion?

Sorry, I was in two posts at the same time and mixed them, this was the thread I had in my mind, works very well with AVCHD clips, sorry if I got you confused, the man is getting old ...
edited.. not so old, we have actually been discussing this workflow on this page, page 4, even in this thread

You mean using the Panasonic converter to convert the AVCHD to DVCPro HD? If so, the problem with this is that it has slightly less horizontal resolution (1280x1080 or 960x720) than the AVCHD (1920x1080 or 1280x720.)

No, the mainconcept converter, please read the first posts on this page, page 4, again
digitalhecht: ... VERY quickly and plays them quite smoothly for me. So I don't see the point of converting them to DNxHD files when the import times are about 5 times as long and the file sizes are 10-12x larger (than m2t files). They all look fine to me. Now, as thge increase in file size from MTS to m2t is moderate (not even 1.5x!), I am open to suggestions to tweaking the AME settings to get a bit more quality out of the encoded files, i.e. raise the minimum and/or maximum mbps, etc. Perhaps I am losing more than I realize? I'd be curious to see how others fare using these settings.Tawk amongst ya'selves. Discuss.

The trick is to choose settings in TMPGEnc that will allow the file to "Fast Import" in Avid. That means choosing "Millions of Colors" instead of "Millions of Colors+" and setting Alpha to "None."
(I always make sure the Media Creation settings for the MC project match the version of DNxHD I've transcoded to in TMPGEnc, but I'm not sure if this is a necessity.) I believe you also have to be sure that Avid's import settings are 601/709 levels for it to fast import.
When you get the settings matching properly so you can fast import the files, the importation happens very quickly and there is no additional trascoding, e.g. quality loss happening.
HTH.

I strongly suggest going to the Chat with Avid fourm and posting a thread with these sentiments. ;)

If anyone can confirm that the base version of AVCHD to DVCPrOHD , version 1,1 , still is a free one, it was once upon a time, I can add it to my web and publish a link but no illegal things, we have to be sure that it is still free.
