    HDV 720p30 to HD export

In a month I will be shooting some stock footage using the JVC HD100 camera in 720p30 mode. The footage will need to be delivered in a "real" HD format, though. I am thinking DVC PRO HD would probably work but there might be others too. Can anyone suggest a good workflow for this? Thank you.

You should be able to digitize this into a 720p/29.97 project via firewire and perform a digital cut to a DVCPro HD deck via firewire at 720p/59.94.

The same footage would play in a 1080i/59.94 project if you wanted to lay it off to a HDCAM Deck.

Re: HDV 720p30 to HD export

I am not at my computer right now but I will try it later today. What I forgot to mention is that the delivery of the clips should be in the form of files burned on DVDs. The entire length of the footage won't be more than some 10-15 minutes max. I was planning to break it up into individual clips or subclips and export them one at the time. What would be the export settings then?

I am at the computer now and what I see is that the only project that's 720p/29.97 is the HDV preset. And yes, I digitize to that via FW but there is no Digital Cut from that, only Export To Device - HDV, which only works with the same HDV 720 deck/camera.

What I need is to take this HDV footage and somehow transcode it to a codec/format that will allow me to Export true HD (probably in the 720p flavor) to file.

    I tried this:

Video Mixdown to DVCPro HD MXF, replace the video in the timeline with the mixdown clip, export as DVC PRO HD. The resulting file looks worse than the original HDV. And this is all done with clean footage without any CC or other manipulation.

Any other suggestions? If someone could suggest a workflow that would be great!

I hope audio is unimportant - good luck on trying to capture with Xpress Pro too.

Yeah, that's really helpful Huh? Capture is not that difficult, only has to be done "on the fly", no batch. And yes, audio is part of it and needed.

Any other takers with real suggestions?
