No Avid product has ever stopped playing when you mark an in point if you do it from the keyboard and I've had 'em all. If you clicking the mark in in the interface, of course it stops.
.- Yes, you are right.
Applies also for the "Add edit" command and, of course, the JKL (Duh! for me).

BLKDOG - hey, what acceleration does the Mojo DX (or Nitris) do? I'm working on file based stuff right now and don't need to ingest or output to tape. just monitor HD and if possible, get some hardware acceleration for FX rendering, etc. Are these new boxes like my Mojo where it is basically just I/O?
I know the Nitris does DNxHD encoding, but that is only for ingest from tape correct?
(my file based workflow is going to be RED stuff soon, so that is the root of the questions here - I'm not spending $10K on hardware right now if it won't help anything, but if it will...)

Yes but the Nitris has chips installed that aid in DNxHD playback, encoding and decoding. Mojo DX, while it will capture to DNxHd, does not.
In agreement, Unity. In Disagreement, Discussion. In all things, Charity.
The realtime timecode plug in is pretty cool. I think they heard so many people complaining about the lack of this feature that when they finally delivered they over delivered. In addition to TC you can add a window with notation (ex: "alternate version", "rough cut", etc.). At the demo I saw 4 TC windows running at the same time.
If you need a basic realtime burn in whilst we wait for v3, the 'norway' beta plug still works for 2.8+ - you need to replace the IllusionFX plugin that sits in the avx folder with the beta version, and rename the beta plugin to IllusionFX as well. The timecode plugin will now appear with a green dot next to it.

I forgot one of the smallest but most welcome features is the ability to move multiple segments in the timeline between tracks regardless of track config.
So, if I want to move two tracks of audio up or down one track, it's really easy now and works very well!

BLKDOG- I've read that the Nitris DX handles XDCAM HD natively. I'm not sure exactly what "Navtively" means to avid. Does this mean I can ingest via FAM, do the edit (including efx, titles, etc,) and finally create reference quicktimes without having to mixdown the timeline?
Also, on the DS one can zoom in and out of the timline without affecting playback. I've often started a playback for client and wish to see the entire timeline (to gage how much longer the playback is) so zooming out doesn't stop the play. Is this accomplished on the new hardware?
Thanks!
No. Zooming the TL still stops playback.
Yes, you can export thin raster QTs without mixing down provided that there are no other formats mixed in the TL.
Does anyone know when demos will hit the UK ?
If this job was easy it wouldn't be any fun.

Seems to be impossible, even a simple rendered FX will be to a different format !
What would be your perfect system then Sep ?

I haven't tested it yet but you specify thin raster when you create the project so, I would assume that renders are done in the same aspect.
Honestly, I haven't seen exactly WHAT the Native Thin Raster settings does (toggling it between DVCProHD and Standard doesn't seem to do anything different)...but I do know that I can now play P2 media in green/green mode on my monitor and digital cuts. So whoo hoo!
