Mac Studio system on Ventura - tried on Avid 23.3, 22.12.3 and 21.12.8.

Trying to export a still image - under any of the graphic options (PNG, TIFF, JPEG, etc) - a progress bar appears, but it never actually creates a file anywhere, on any attached HDD (incase this was some kinda permissions issue).

I can take the exact same bin onto a mojave imac pro and it exports as a still no issue whatsoever.

Am I missing something? is this a bug?

Hmmm... I'm guessing this is based on the two separate types of exporting that now exist because of the newer macOS versions. MC 2020 and newer uses the UME media engine. MC 2019 and prior uses the traditional QuickTime-based engine. Apple EOL'd it, so Avid needed to invent a new one (UME).

Could I ask for a little bit more detail from you on a few things?

- You have a Mac Studio running Ventura - thanks for that.

- What's the Media Composer project type?

- Are you using an Avid codec like DNxHD or are you AMA-Linked to the clip you're trying to export?

- I'm assuming you have the correct track(s) not only highlighted but that you have an In-point set?

All dailies, SFX, Music in the project transcoded to DNx codec - no AMA linked media present in project.

- I'm assuming you have the correct track(s) not only highlighted but that you have an In-point set?

Yes - so for example, I mark in and out on the V1 layer, with the V1 layer active (but no other tracks selected) -- doing this will all tracks selected while marking an in-and-out doesnt change anything.

I tried making a new image export option VS using the old one that was present and still no dice.

Happy to try anything else you'd like me to try.

And out of interest John, All other export settings work?

You're able to export UME MP4/MOV Just nothing under the Image options?

Yep - all the other exports work.

UME MOV h264 is my primary export of choice, but can confirm that mp4 works just fine as well.

For whatever reason - anything out of images just will not kick out a still.

I've captured this as a potential bug, and am chattering with the internal engineers and Q/A testers. Will find an answer soon.
