Hello,
I have edited on Avid for many years on a Macbook pro 2014 with an i7 2,5Ghz and 16Gb RAM. And it was working without any problem. Unfortunately this computer died and I had to buy a new one. I bought a Macbook Pro 2019 with an i9 2,4Ghz 16Gb RAM. I can´t run the Avid fluidly: I have no real time : I hear the dialogs and then seen the video corresponding with a delaw. I have ZERO other application open, let say I didn´t open any app and there is no open application by default.
The system takes 8-9gb and Avid the same. But in the monitor of activity it doesn´t show it´s orange or red. It is green.
I have tried with Monterey and Ventura, it changes nothing. On the 2014 I was on Catalina and before Big sure.
What do you think? The Macbook pro 2019 has a problem or is it normal, means it is not powerful enough ? Should I rather take a Macbook pro 2018 i9 2,9Ghz with 32Gb? Or a Macbook Air M1 with 16Gb RAM?
Thanks a lot. It´s urgent since I have 5 days left to send it back and change my mind.
Best regards, Charlotte
Hello,The 16 GB of ram is the bare minimum that is qualified to run the app. Newer versions of Media Composer usually hover around 12-13 GB, and that's with transcoded DNxHD media palying in the sequence. If you're requiring additional headroom, such as trying to play with AMA-Linked media in the timeline, then it will require more RAM.
