I prefer 2018.12.15 to the newer versions that still drive me crazy with inconsistent bin and effect mode behaviour. I need to upgrade the win10 PC though - will Win11 run this older version? Do I need Win 11 Pro for Avid or will a std version work? Thanks for any advice.
Symphony 2018.12.10, Blackmagic Intensity Pro 11.1 (unsatisfactory in full res UHD though for client monitor), WIN 10 on 2500Mbps M.2 SSD, Nvidia Quadro K4200, Asus X99-A Mobo, i7 5820K 4.0 GHz Hex core mildly overclocked CPU, 32Gb 2800 Mhz RAM, WD Black 8Tb RAID10 array @ 450Mbs
If it's the PC in your footer, are you sure it is hardware compatible with Win 11, I think the proc is too old? Why do you need to upgrade from Win 10? Win Pro is far preferable to Home, but I think it will run OK in an unshared environment.
Thanks - Im just upgrading to a new PC and it will run faster on Win 11 being latest Core i9 12900K on an ASUS ProArt Z690-CREATOR. I want to keep my 2018 Avid which of course was produced way before Win 11 Pro was released. Hopefully will remain backwards compatible (unshared env)?
If it's any succour to your woes, Diesele, I haven't actually yet come across a legacy Windows programme that doesn't run on 11. Obviously I've upgraded where available but I have many apps that have no newer version and so far they have been fine
Thanks Mercer - some good news at last! Been a bad week on Avid/PC realiability for me - even freelancing at the BBC (who, like me, still run 2018.12.15)!
Ah the Broken Biscuit Company - do a quite a bit there from time to time myself. Same here for an independent 2018 via Teradici, all good

+1 for running 2018.12.15 on a HP Studio G5 laptop with Win 11 pro
Thanks for confirming guys. [I still havent built it as 3 different companies keep letting me down on the full tower case I have ordered so many times - the RAM and CPU have been in the homeless motherboard since last weekend!]
