When I want to check, for example, the blue channel, for noise, I find it annoying that I have to switch the CC mode to CC Effect, if I'm working in Master Clip mode (for example, although none of the other modes works either). This then adds a CC effect icon on to my clip which I then have to remove again when I'm done viewing the channel.
It should work that whichever mode I am in, if I select the Blue Output (or any of the preview options) then my main viewer just shows me that preview until I click back on to master output. It would just make the timeline less messy and speed things up if it did that. Obviously that would just be a non-destructive, temporary overlay and not a baked-in effect. If I want that effect baked in then, sure, restrict it to CC Effect mode but most people would be using that feature for a quick check of the channels and not using it as an effect in itself I'd wager.
Is it just me, or does it work like this for everyone? I'd expect the preview to show you a preview regardless of which mode I was in?

Do you have a broadcast spec reference monitor connected via an I/O box?
Could you put that monitor into blue gun mode to monitor that channel rather than via software/Media Composer?

Sadly my X300 and Dolby Pulsar are in the shop. I'm kidding of course, but this is more to do with using the channels tab in Symph to blend problem channels, it should just work differently - very much like putting a monitor in to blue only mode, it should be a simple off and on switch.
Don't know why I bother posting about Symphony, it's obvious Avid doesn't plan to do anything with it ever again but some of us are still holding out hope that it might one day get some love.
Would we be able to move this to the feature request node?
