Main BIG problem
If I have 2 video Tracks on 1 timeline : 1 title on each track, on top of each other, fiddle a bit with the top layer,(try to design something) it crashes MC - Then MC won’t reopen, reboot doesn’t do it, uninstall and reinstall 2022.4. won't do it either, I have to go back to vers 2020.12.2 then upgrade to 2022.4.0 to make MC start again. I had to do this 3 times in 2 days. Do I want to reproduce it, no. It takes too much time. Is 2022.4.0 only an upgrade, Not a full install?
Other Issues:
1 - Most of the time, real time playback is extremely choppy, I would say unusable.
2 - Changing color of an object is doable but painful. The color picker comes first then the color wheel? after triple click?
3 - Editing an existing title sometimes doesn't work. It crashes MC
4 - Undo sometimes doesn't work at all.
5 - Anchor problem: Should be at the center of title by default, not somewhere in the page, and shouldn't be enabled by default.
6 - Leading should work at the bottom of the text (Like every other program.)not at the top.
7 - Postscript Font doesn’t look right (see link) https://community.avid.com/members/Eric-Basset/files/AVID-Postslcript-FONT-issue.png.aspx
Can’t avid handle Postscript fonts? all my other programs can.
8 - Opacity per layer not key frameable?
9 - Centering 2 pieces of text works perfectly horizontally but when you try to center them vertically it collapses the text to one line at the center of the screen. What's the point in that function? Am I missing something?
10 - Is there no way to distribute equally multiple pieces of text on a page?
FUNCTION REQUESTS:
1 - Save a template, then be able to have an AUTO TITLER function. like in Marquee.
2 - Be able to render the title(s) to a bin(like Maquee), so they can play back properly, since it looks like it's a major hurdle for TITLER+
3 - Have a (write-on) function? That one might be for 2030.
Anyway I think that's enough work today for AVID, after all they don't pay me, and I already spent a day trying to design credits for a 90 minutes documentary and didn't succeed. I had to stop trying, otherwise I wouldn't have any more hair on my head. So I finally, I reverted to Apple motion 5 and did the job in a couple of hours. SAD.
P.S. : Has anyone at Avid tried to use the TITLER +_for actual work, meaning other than to see if it works somewhat, and do a demo with titles that look like they were designed circa 1997? (that one just felt good)
Thanks Eric. I'll forward these to the team.
Thanks also for the terrific detail -- the more detail the teams get, the better.

Hi Eric and thanks for your detailed feedback - it is very helpful.
Here are some comments on your report:
* Stacking titles (on vertical tracks) is a known issue and the top priority issue the team is currently focusing on. the work is in progress and it should be resolved in the next month or so - following intensive testing it will be globally available.
1. The real-time playback for vertical titles is related to my earlier comments and should be improved. other areas like horizontal titles and typing speed improvements were already introduced in 22.4.
2. You are right - the issue is on our backlog and will be addressed (reversed) soon (following the performance stabilization).
3. I will be happy to have additional information and/or steps to reproduce.
4. We have multiple UNDO-related issues on the backlog - 1 will be resolved with the near release others in the releases that follow.
5. It is by design that the anchor point for left justify text is on the bottom left (this is common in other title tools as well) - you are correct, however, that you should be able to center it if you wish - that will be available in the next release as the anchor point will be positioned according to your justification. so, left justify = anchor point on the left. center justify = anchor point on the center, etc. - the opposite will be for a right to left text. as for the anchor point On by default - this is only in move mode and either way, it can be turned off from the T+ user settings.
6. Could you please evaluate what you are experiencing? the leading is indeed set from Baseline to Baseline of each line of text.
7. We are adding suport for FreeType libaries (including OpenType) and it will include also PostScript fonts - the support should be available in the very near future (we've started testing).
8. Correct, we currently have limited functionality in that front - it is on our backlog and will be added following stabilization of the performance and functionality.
9. Yes, if they are in a different horizontal (X) position, pressing on the vertical center will level both their vertical (Y) position.
10. Not at the moment - I'll add it as a feature request together with the other function requests you've submitted.
Again, I appreciate your feedback very much, and understand the frustration - I can assure you as mentioned above that we continue to work to resolve all of these issues with additional resources and you'll continue to see improvements with any of the following releases.

Hi, Elad
Thank you for your response.
I'm not talking about vertical titles, just regular simple titles, the first time you play, it stutters, slows down everything. If you play it a couple of times then it play properly but if you change the playback resolution it stutters again , as if it needs to put the title in RAM every time to be able to play it back. Very annoying and not acceptable.
This one is hard to reproduce, I would have to do a screen record while i'm working, not really feasible. Plus I think it does it mostly with titles made with previous versions of Titler+. Trying to edit them with 22.4. Then again yesterday it crashed and I had to reinstall 2 versions down and upgrade again to 22.4., because apparently 22.4 is not a full install?
5. Anchor point not staying a the same place when moving the title box. The anchor should stay with the title box. see movie:

6. Leading:if you select all the text it works as intended but if you select one line, the leading is added to the top of the text.see movie :

NEW:
BOUNDING BOX ODD BEHAVIOR: see movie :
If you pull the right side to the right it works as you would expect. If you pull the left side to the left it doesn’t show what you are doing. Same for the vertical. See movie:

JUSTIFY LEFT DELETES TEXT until you deselect left justify. see movie :

EDITING TEXT: If you want to edit text, the font is always set to the default user setting not the font in the line you are editing. Also there is no undo, you have to back space. See movie:

ZOOM IN OUT GRID GETS MULTIPLIED : see movie :

All the movies can be downloaded for better quality.
I hope the Titler+ team can figure all this out very fast.
Thanks

Did I spooked somebody. Too many things? Nobody wants to play anymore?
No, we're still here. ;) But if the engineers spend all their time chatting, they're not writing the code to improve things.
Thanks for the wave Chris. That is very true. I just wanted to make sure they can see or download the movies Links I posted. They might be useful to figure out what pains us all. Thanks
Hi Eric,
Nobody is spooked :) we are here, working hard and motivated to fix all of these issues asap - so thanks for your detailed reports - this is very helpful.
1. The improvments in performance I'm refering to shall improve also what you are expiriencing with simple titles - the work being made is at the core level of the design and API's - so it will affect the entire pipeline for Titles.
3. I'll ask QA to chase this one - if you'll have more information and/or steps to rperoduce it will be helpful.
5. I just tested this on my build and it work as you expect - anchor point stays with the title box as you move - I'll ask QA to investigate you'r case.
Eitherway, 22.6 will have additional improvments in that regards, where text justification will be relative to the anchor point position.
6. Thanks. will be reviewed with QA and engineering.
As for the NEW stuff you've listed:
Hey Guys,
Nothing but issues using Titler on and off for over a year, now. I even bought an Imac on an intel, so Avid would play well with it, and had it rolled back to Cataline. Crash. I was then told the craashes must be my drives. I bought a Thunderbay ($2,500) drive with 45 gigs. It didn't help. More specs: I upped my ram to 64 gb. Nothing helped.
The issue is not simply in titler, it is alos using compositing effects. If anything is unrendered, Crash. If titles are stacked, Crash. If titles are rendered, I may be able to adjust two or three of them before it seems to strain the system, then CRASH.
I have paid for tech help. It did not resolve the issue. I upgraded from 2021.6 to 2022.7. The crash was instantaneous.
Anyone with offerings of mosels of help, would be oh so welcome. This has eaten into project editing time to the unth degree.
Hello K-RAN
I wonder if the graphics adapter might be at play with these issues? If you turn off the GPU rendering un the User|Render settings tab, does the system behave a bit better?
Thanks,

So will there ever actually be improvements to the titler? I've seen staff on here claim that every next update will bring forth our requests, but that's been the same tune for 10 years or more. I currently can't deliver a feature just because the avit titler "+" crashes everytime I try to open it. Just unreal.
Yes, an announcement has been made: https://community.avid.com/forums/t/208595.aspx
Thanks, Chris. Fingers crossed on that.
For now, I have a project that I made a Titler+ rolling credit on and finally figured out how to open the project without the system crashing, however I realize I omitted a letter for one of the credits. When I try to reopen the titler edit tool, everything crashes again. It took me literally 7 hours and a ton of patience in waiting twenty seconds between every space and typed letter, and I don't want to risk making a new one and crashing my project again. Any ideas? Would starting a whole new project and clear timeline and attempting a new titler+ from there work smoother since there's less info for the system to handle?
Does anyone know if there's a preferred workaround like bringing titles from Resolve or something?
If you're able to update to it, Media Composer version 2023.3 has the most up-to-date fixes and feature adds. While we work on this full revamp of the titling ability, if the current Titler+ is not performing to your expectations, please consider alternatives. We know there are issues, which is why we've gone all-in on the fix.
