nVidia Quattro FX 4800 limited to MC 2018.5 ?

I have an HP Z800 WS with FX 4800. I have not been able to upgrade MC further than 2018.5, since the required newer nVidia drivers cannot be installed.

Does anybody know whether it is possible to install a newer graphic card in the Z800, which will accept the required new driver?

    Thank you

I have a HP Z800 with a Quardo M4000 (which I also bought to support Resolve as well). As far as I know the M4000 is current and will support recent driviers. Its a nice card. I'm running 2018.10.

I just checked and the M4000 is discontinued and nVidia's site isn't listing what drivers it supports. I'd email their pre-sales department as the M4000 may be available for a good price. The P4000 is cuurent, but kinda pricey.

The M4000 is PCI Express 3.0 and the Z800 (my machine, at least) is PCI Express 2.0.   That's why I went with a K4200, which I understand was the last PCI 2 card in the Quadro line.  I bought it when my FX4800 died and it's been working great.  But I'm still on MC 2018.4, so I'm also curious about whether my card will support the latest versions of MC?

The K4200 looks fine if its certified. The price is half a M4000. My Z800 is PCI2 X16, but the PCI3 card works fine, just not getting it's full potential; if there's a way to measure how that effects Avid performance. At the time B&H had a smart sale on that card which was a geat deal and if I recall one of the few single slot cards that would work at the time and was UHD or 4K (2017). (I bought some Nvdia stock in December after it had a mini-correction and its doing great.) :)

Not sure what I need for the newest MC version.

Anyway I ordered yesterday an M4000 from Amazon here in Germany. They had one "used, like new" for half price (Fourhundred-something Euro).

I wanted a forward compatible card I could reuse in case the Z800 had to be replaced. I love the card. One thing is the software has a semi opaque box in the upper right of all apps and I don’t know what it’s for other than be annoying when I try to minimize an app. It showed up one day when I was messing around and I can’t figure out how to get rid of it.

How is 2018.10 running on the Z800?   My Z800 is running 2018.4 fine.   But according to an email from Avid, that version will no longer be supported.   I'm crossing my fingers that the new version coming out will still run on my system.
