Hi
donno if this has been discussed before?
I am currently working (MC 894) with 6 Track Audio, a documentary with mostly 6 protagonists, each one has a lav-mic. The track-metadata came in nicely from a sound-devices 633, so i can see in the bin what track holds which protagonist's lav-mic .
It would be an enormous help if I could see this meta-data directly in the TL.
Is this possible? any workaround-suggestions ?
thx!
magus
Cameras don't lie yet liars may use cameras
It has been a longstanding feature request, but no. First, the Clip Data in the Timeline is limited to certain data, second, metadata is stored per-clip rather than per-track in multichannel clips.
I think some people use some manual workarounds, but those have downsides in some workflows, so beware.
I used to assign colors to clips from each contributor - subclips carry color over
You can’t color code individual tracks of a multichannel audio clip, though.
hi, thx for clearing this up,
it is a real pitty that I can't see in the TL which Audio track is present, it eats a lot of useless spent time to match frame the xxx.sync-clip, again match frame to arrive at the original imported audio masterclip, find bin, track down the clip, check the metadata...
count me in for that feature request, AVID!
have a good day!

Yes we want this improved, please.
I know there are MANY workflows, many reasons to get this done right.
but is it not possible to set TL to Display “Media Files” info? Can those multi-alpha numeric file names get the job done (I know from doing it that they can be re-named even temporarily)? Or are you looking for meta data other than the original track?
-Telegram!
You should see all the audio’s metadata in the bin with synced clips, though. No need to matchframe back to the originally inported sound clip. Not saying it’s ideal now, but also not as complicated as you describe.
oh yeah, thx job. I did not realize, perhaps because i have my xxx.sync bin always open in frameview...perhaps MC did not show that in older versions, i donno why I never checked that option.
still would be way more handy to see the desired metadata in the TL segements
happyediting!
