Hi,
We have a full backup of a v3.5 Interplay database and are intending to use the restore tool to load it into a new IP Engine. However, this IP Engine is running v2017.2. We're aware Avid's official stance would be to move it down to v3.5 and then do the upgrade, but we are also receiving advice it should be fine without doing this.
Does anyone have any experience doing it this way?
Thanks,
Jon
I have taken v3.8 production and archive databases and restored them directly in 2017.2 without any apparant issue, however, this comes with the disclaimer that this has been done in a virtual lab environment with limited client connectivity post-upgrade. Re-activating the database has always gone through the conversion/optimization process, and I always run maintenance tools prior to modifying anything in a restored database.
