    Export Problem Avid

Hello. I know this is probably a known topic but I never found a good solution for it. When I try to export a Quick time movie file from avid the video is way darker than it should be. Is there a way to fix this issue inside avid or should I use different software? I cannot use squeeze cause I can't afford it as of right now. If there is any other software I could use for exporting how would the roundtrip be? Like what codec or file should I use to export it out of Avid and send it to a software that can export the video without gamma issues.

    Thank you!

The Apple codec is notorious for gamma shift.   That's why it is always recommended to export as a same-as-source file and then use an outside encoder like Squeeze.   I own the Pro version, but doesn't Squeez Lite come bundled with MC?

If you don't have an outside encoder and you are on a PC, you can export as a WMV or AVI file.   These don't have the same gamma shift problems.

There are several freeware programs video encoding programs available. Rumage through sourceforge, github & alternativeto for suggestions. Handbreak & FFMpeg are goto options if either meets your needs. Also, is Sorenson Lite still bundled w/MC? It outputs MC H.264, Sorenson MPEG-4, MP4, VP8, WebM, Sorenson Spark, H.263, VP6, FLV. https://www.sorensonmedia.com/squeeze/squeeze-desktop/squeeze-lite/

    Re: Export Problem Avid

Hello! I tried using AVI to export but my project is 23.98 fps and the only option the Avi codec gives me is 24, 30, etc.

Also, I tried exporting an AFF file to DaVinci to try exporting from there but the gamma is already shifted! I even relinked to the camera files and the gamma is still shifted! I don't understand what is happening. Also, I tried exporting a quick reference file to media encoder but the program cannot import the reference file! Maybe I'm choosing the wrong settings when I'm exporting. HELP PLEASE!

    Re: Export Problem Avid

Encoder used to be great for creating a file out of Avid's quick time reference. Recently it doesn't work any more. I managed to find some settings which worked, but every project I have to research from start.

    Try this:

    Output> Export to File>

Export Settings: Untitled. Options> Export As: Avid Media Processor.

Check the "Render Unrendered  Effects" if needed

    Choose your sound settings

    Worked fine with encoder!

The latest version of Media Encoder no longer supports QT reference files and QT 7 codecs

    See here: https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/quicktime7-support-dropped.html

The previous version (2017) still works.
