CRASH on start up Media Composer 2018.5

I uninstalled the old software.  Then did a fresh install of Media Composer 2018.5.  I open a brand new project and it gets stuck on (screen freezes):  LOADING "COLOR CORRECTION PRESETS".  Not sure what to do.  Force Quit says:  NOT RESPONDING.

    Hi Jason,

Can you open previously created projects, or do you get the same issue with them too?

If it's the same with old Projects, check that the Colour Correction Presets file is actually there and installed OK.

The Colour Correction Presets should be installed in Applications/Avid Media Composer/ Supporting Files/Avid_EffectsPresets/Color Correction Presets.aep

On my system, it has a file size of 68,473 bytes (right-click on the file and Get Info to check).

If it's not right, I'd suggest an uninstall and then reinstall of Media Composer.

If however all seems well, try searching for and trashing MCState, relaunching Media Composer, and then try creating the new Project again.

Re: CRASH on start up Media Composer 2018.5

My CC Presets is 74 KB.

At this point, I have no old projects.  Just this new one (created after the install).

I searched my system and found MCState in 2 places:

    1.  MacHD, Applications, Avid Media Composer, Settings, MCState

    2.  MacHD, Users, Shared, Avid Media Composer, Avid Users, JasonEdit, MCState

Do I delete both of them?  Will deleting these files harm anything or kill my project?

    Thanks!

No, deleting them will do no harm, they'll get rebuilt automatically.

The CC Presets file size sounds suspicious though. You could also try trashing that. MC will then simply start up without any CC Presets in its Effects Palette. If that works, and you'd like the CC Presets (although there's nothing very earth-shattering in them, frankly), I'd recommend a re-instal.

I deleted MCState and Color Correction Presets.  Avid launches fine now.  Unfortunately, it still crashes when I exit the application (although i do not lose any of my work).  Perhaps a reinstall will help.  Does anyone know how I can manually make sure that there are not any old files around that are keeping the avid from installing properly?

I did a complete uninstall and then a fresh reinstall.  Avid crashes the first time I try to open after booting my computer.  When I restart, it works fine.  When I exit, I crash, but I don't lose any work.  Still, that crash on exit does not make me feel good.
