Re: Is it ok to upgrade macOS to 10.13.4 for 2018.4?

here is what is comptible today

The following lists the qualified Operating Systems. Depending upon your hardware the

    qualified Operating Systems are:

    • Windows v7 64-bit SP1(Professional) and Windows v8.1 (Professional and Enterprise),

Windows v10 64-bit (Professional, Creators, and Enterprise).

    • Macintosh v10.10.5, 10.11.6, 10.12.6, 10.13.3 (with supplemental update)

    Notes for High Sierra:

    1. With the release of Mac OS v10.13.x (High Sierra), Media Composer cannot write (i.e. capture,

import, render) to the system drive. Workaround: You can partition the Mac drive and choose the

partition or an external drive when selecting drives in the Media Creation Settings.

    2. With the release of Mac OS v10.13.x (High Sierra), Apple requires manual approval of loading

Kernel Extensions (KEXTs). (For example Avid Nitris DX, BlackMagic, and AJA IO devices

install Kernel Extensions.) At installation time, you should get a dialog saying that the KEXT

was not loaded. You must go the “Security & Privacy” system preference and manually approve

the KEXT. Keep the Security & Privacy pane open after you install the I/O device drivers so that

you will see the notice that the driver has been blocked and press the “allow” button within 30

minutes of installing or the driver will be permanently blocked.

I've been running 2018.3 on OS 10.3.4 (finally a proper version of High Sierra...) for more than a week with no issues. Your own mileage might vary, as they say.

Re: Is it ok to upgrade macOS to 10.13.4 for 2018.4?

I wish there was a centralized OS support status page on Avid's web server. I'm always having to search the knowledgebase and the forums to find this information. Google searches often lead to old knowledgebase articles with outdated information that linger. This shouldn't be difficult.

It looks like one user has taken matters into his own hands (http://www.alwaysediting.com/avid-mc-versions.html). Thanks for that Chris! But this really should be information readily available at a central location whose URL doesn't change. It also might be nice to just have the Avid Application manager list this information.

That'd be my 4/27 wish. I'm sure I'll have other feature requests tomorrow :)

PS. If there is an official page that lists this information, I'm sorry for not spotting it.
