Sure, I appreciate it but since I didn't have a problem with my new generic file server share nor having these files on a local disk gave me a pasue and started looking around here first...
...has this bug been confirmed as resolved?
dklein:We spent weeks working with support and they were never able to isolate an issue
As we, as a reseller, have had literary hundreds of cases with support over the past years, I would like to state that the above resonates regarding the Nexis delayed write failure and access denied issues. These Nexis issues seem different from problems with all other products inc ISIS. Please do not consider this a criticism but even after being able to provide Nexis client logs during an occurance with an accurate time stamp, support has never been able to create the impression that the engineers were able to deduct anything from the logs and as a result had any clues what could be causing it.
I'm not in doubt that many attempts have been made to find the problem, but exactly that makes me believe that something is not being logged and/or monitored not to mention the system reporting a warning or error.
Let me give 2 examples.
1. In one case I made an error setting up a system with 10 editing clients where 2 clients had the same hostname but different ip's. While this caused havoc with the Nexis, the only place where I could find logs pointing me to my error is the windows event log. The nexis does not report to the nexis client and the host system that another client with the same name is already connected. Why not block the second client from connecting while producing an error message on the client and in the nexis logs?
2. The known unsupported network speeds. It is known that only 1G connected clients can write to a Nexis. However if due to a cat5,6 or 7 cable issue the negotiation speed is set 100Mb one gets no warning whatsoever. Why not produce a message on the Nexis client that it has detected a speed or even latency related problem?
Just saying.
