Workaround needed! Recommended Nvidia driver will not install on a brand new system with gtx1070 and win 8.1 pro

I want to install MC 8.4 to a system that runs on an i5 7600k cpu and utilizes an nvidia gtx1070. There are two recommended nvidia drivers for that particular version of MC. When I try to install the 347.52 it gives me a message that it can’t find compatible hardware. Possibly the gtx1070 is too new for it. Then, when I try to install the other recommended driver, 353.83, it says that there isn’t a compatible OS. That second driver, I think, is compatible only with systems with win10. But MC 8.4 runs only on win 8.1 pro (and win7 pro, but I don’t have a license for that). Any ideas for a workaround. Does anyone have success running MC 8.4 under win 8.1 pro and the newest flavor of nvidia cards i.e. gtx series 10 with another nvidia driver (a not recommended one).
Also, can anyone recommend an older (but not too old) video card that runs smoothly within the above configuration.

    Thank you.

The Avid recommended nVidia drivers are for Quadro cards only, and won't install on a GTX. You have to install the latest drivers for Your card and cross Your fingers, if everything is OK, You're set, if MC doesn't work properly You'll have to go to a previous driver release, until You find one that will work with MC.

Re: Workaround needed! Recommended Nvidia driver will not install on a brand new system with gtx1070 and win 8.1 pro

I am resurrecting this somewhat old thread to inform as per request by the forum member johnnytex. The system, I eventually installed AMC 8.4.4 for test reasons, belongs to a friend, so I don't have access to it all the time. However I did manage to install AMC and edti extensively on it and now I report back

The system has an i7 7600k (not overclocked) 16GB RAM and an Nvidia GTX1070 (driver I use for it is 381.89). I did a fresh installation of win 8.1 pro 64bit on a separate Kingston ssd. I did zero (none) OS updates. The system performs fairly well. It is somewhat fast but not as snappy I would like it to be. For now, I work with rushes transcoded to DnxHD 185 8bit. Sometimes it crashes when I use the title tool, the old original one. Unfortunately NewBlue titler for some reason seems ungregistered and superimposes a red X over the right window. I may open a new thread to inquire about this issue.

That's all so far. I recently purchased the uprgade of the perpetual licence for AMC with the free symphony option and I plan to install it on this system to test it. That will happen sometime in the fall and I will report back
