I'm curious if anyone using Shared storage solutions also uses a cloud based backup for all their media, projects, data, etc...
The reason I ask is I'm being asked about this by non-video people who think it should be available with current technologies but I haven't seen anything that would be fast enough or more cost efficient than LTO or separate hard drive options.
Currently we use LTO and Raid drives as back ups in addition to our shared storage. I think a cloud based backup would take way too long to upload files to and if something happened would take way too long to download an average 2-5TB per project.
I'm curious what other production houses arare using to backup their media.
Thanks.
Backblaze looking interesting- they'll send a hard drive if you need to restore. Chances are you'd use it as backup to local backup, initially at least, so there'd have to be a pretty big disaster to need it. Does depend in having a fast upload pipe too.
I'm small potatoes but have script running on a regular schedule to update zip files in google drive folder for live avid/Adobe projects. Added advantage is that I can use it for remote project 'sharing'.

The Google drive backup sounds interesting to me. I use external local drives for backups of projects. I've thought about using Dropbox as well but I hate how it takes over your system when you have it on you local drive.
I will check into Backblaze though, I doubt we have the pipes for it. My internet connection is faster at home than where this client is. Thanks for your input.
