When I render something on one computer and move to another computer connected to our ISIS, the media in the timeline is unrendered.
This is at best, annoying. But at worst, we're worried that we're rendering the same timeline multiple times in multiple machines, and that render media is just building and building, eating up space.
PostHas anyone else experienced this?
Are you certain that you're rending to a workspace? Can you double check the Media Creation settings?
What does the folder structure in the Avid MediaFiles > MXF look like? It should be hostname.1, hostname.2...
Try deleting the database files for the computers that are working.
What version of ISIS and Media Composer?
-- Bob Russo Post-Production Workflow Manager - NFL Films
Media is set to render to the workspace/partition for the job. Just checked. This is happening on every machine in our building (20 computers, 40 or 50 job partitions).
Hostname files are all correct. Media creation works fine. The files render to the correct locations, they just aren't seen by other machines.
We're on MC 8.6, ISIS Client Manager 4.7.8, and ISIS 5000.
If you delete the database files in the folder, are the rebuilt?
Has any media been added to the folders outside of Media Composer? There shouldn't be more than 5000 files in any specific folder. Are you using Interplay?
I encourage you to upgrade to 4.7.11 and use the NEXIS client, both are on the Avid download center.
The databases rebuild fine. We have a lot of projects going and haven't run into any issues loading media.
No projects have over 5000 files any single MediaFiles folder. Not even close. We barely hit 1000 per folder.
We're not using Interplay.
I'll see if we're able to upgrade the ISIS software to 4.7.11. I'm also unfamiliar with the NEXIS client. What is that?
ISIS has been replaced by NEXIS.
When did this happen? I'm completely unaware of this.
So even if you're running an ISIS5000 shared storage, the client machines are supposed to all upgrade to NEXUS Client Manager?
Avid NEXIS was launched at NAB in 2016. Only MacOS Sierra requires the NEXIS client, there is otherwise no requirement to use this client. We are adding fixes to the NEXIS client that aren't present in the ISIS client. To enable ISIS customers to use the NEXIS Client, we have made it available on the Avid Download Center.
