    Matrox MX02

Could anyone suggest why it might be that my Acer K242HL Full HD monitor will not cooperate with the Matrox Mini MX02 - the best that I can achieve is that it will work SOMETIMES after calibration (but most of the time it displays an OUT OF RANGE message) - whilst the LG Flatron D2342P-PN 3D monitor works every time?

This is true of two separate Windows 10 systems both running MC8.

    i'd say refresh rate?

pretty much all PC displays can only do 60Hz straight.

mxo will probaly output yuv while screen expects RGB

Thanks, Lukas, but the MX02 software offers to output both YUV and RGB,- it seems to make no difference..

    Re: Matrox MX02

What is the resolution you are trying to output, I.E. what is your project settings?

Have you tried the Matrox Xtools app and playing through that?  It may help to identify whether it is an Avid problem or just that the MXO2 does not like your screen.

    Re: Matrox MX02

Hi David: I'm trying to output 1080P.  I've tried the MX02 with an HP monitor and that too complains about the input.  I get the impression that running the calibration utility begins to make things function but then things fall apart again. I'll look for the XTools app, thanks.

    Re: Matrox MX02

I have had lots of monitors not like getting a 1080 25P signal.  Many support 30P but not 25 or only support it in PSF mode.  I have an Asus HD computer screen which I am using to type this message which I know will not display a 25P picture from any device I have tried - Blackmagic or Matrox.  I never found a solution and just used a TV instead.   That is not to say that if definately won't work at your end but it possible.

    Re: Matrox MX02

Thanks, David: I think you have nailed it.  I suspect that many editors use a TV as a monitor so I may be being unreasonable in expecting an ordinary screen to work with the MX02.  I'm happy at least that my LG 3D monitor does in fact work,- perhaps the 3D aspect to the device means that it is more tolerant of the input.

    Re: Matrox MX02

I have been trying out some 4K computer screens recently and although they work ok at all the 4K resolutions they sometimes don't work too well at HD and Sd resolutions.  I do not have the problem you are having with no output at all - they give you a picture - but, particularly with Interlaced video, sometimes it is not very good.  So even if you find a monitor which says it will work at the resolutions you want it is still no good.  TVs have circuits which are designed to accept video signals and generally work better.

Thanks for that,- I too am looking at the move to 4K so your experience is helpful.
