RX 5 Sync seems off in Avid MC 8

I'm using RX 5 in avid to de-click a sound track, it is sound of an interview and it looks off.  I added the RX 5 correction using the Audio Track Effect Tool to the left of the time line. Does anyone have any experience using RX 5 on the time line?

    Thanks

Re: RX 5 Sync seems off in Avid MC 8

I mixdown each track and applying the effects to those tracks, it is a 4K project, so DNxHR HQX.  I first applied the dialog noise reduction to the tracks which works great but when I add the de-click effect the sync goes off a bit.  Also inside the effect moduals there are no render tabs when using the Audio Track Effect Tool.  I could export a wave file and use the RX5 program stand alone but if I could get this to work it would make life easier.  Thanks!

Re: RX 5 Sync seems off in Avid MC 8

make a mixdown and compare waveforms.

i've seen waves plugins be off by exactly one frame a while back.

I just shifted all audio one frame to the left to compensate.

Thanks I did, and it is off when playing back the original compared to the mix down track with the effects on it. Thanks for the confirmation.

Re: RX 5 Sync seems off in Avid MC 8

Ok, I´m on a trial of RX5 since a week ago, need it for some adjustments for a customer, using Avid in cooperation with Audition and have not seen this, I´m doing audio exports from both Avid and Audition and that might be the same as a render or mixdown.

Maybe the track effects, when not yet rendered, is one frame off and that might be a bug of course if the waveforms before and after a render not are exactly the same.

Thanks to both you Steve and Lucas, will keep an eye on this as it´s still an unpaid trial

Re: RX 5 Sync seems off in Avid MC 8

Just checked adding the same VO 2 times so have it on A3 - A6 now , the RX5 declick on A5 - A6, I also played through it from inside of the Izotope interface and around 70 clicks were found.

Noticed that it played in echo during the interface playout as A5- A6 not plays in RT whilst A3-A4 of course does that.

Waveforms on A3 - A6 looks exactly the same although it still plays in echo.

I hoped for this to be a not rt compatible thing that got fixed during an export but, what´s even worse, I have this echo on the exported 48 - 16 Wav file.

Pretty easy to test and verify and now we are three that are seeing this, whose gonna file that bug report, Steve ?

add..  and workaround and fix is to use it from inside of the audiosuite effect so this seems to be a track effect issue

Thanks mjoinarn, I'm heading out of town on a job for a few days, I'm chief cook and bottle washer here so little time to file the report, I've only been involved in one other bug report so not clear on how it should be done.  Thanks for the confirmation much appreciated.

Re: RX 5 Sync seems off in Avid MC 8

At 48Khz, the real-time iZotope RX5 AAX De-click plug-in requests dealy compensation of 31931 samples.  Since version 8.1, Media Composer will play and mix down with delay compensation applied, but it is limited to 16K samples (at 48Khz sample rate). When the plug-in requires more than 16K samples of delay compensation, as in this case, there will be some slip.

I will look into the ramifications of raising this to 32K.  You do get 32K at 96Khz, but I don't know if iZotope will, in that case, start asking for 64862 :-).

Oh, I forgot to say, that if you have plug-ins with very large delay compensation requirements, my recommendation is to mix down the track (if needed) and apply the plug-in as Audiosuite.  I use RX a lot - mostly denoise - and the non-real-time AudioSuite lets me use the higher-qualtiy (but slower) algorithms, and doesn't require any delay compensation.

Thanks a very lot for fast answer and explanation, workaround for now is to use these effects on the audio suite side so there is a way .

The difficult part here Jeff is that you not might notice this until after the export, in my own case the VO track only showed the face of the person speaking for about 3 secs so in that situation it´s wise to always use the audiosuite and that isn´t a good situation now that track effects, with no possibilities to render , are a rather common workflow.

If some effects aren´t possible to use as track effects with 100 % safety they should just be blocked from the track effect list imho until this is fixed, we had a list for blocked video effects a while ago, maybe it´s possible to do something similar with the audio track effects .
