Poor Resolution in DNx HR LB

Here's a new one...  Digitized a 1080 / 59.94 show master at DNx HR LB keep raster and frame rate as orginal.

In 1080i project in yellow mode it's to blurry to use,  yellow/green mode it looks great.  Green Mode it falls apart and gets all jaggy.

In 30i looks evne worse,  Yellow is to blurry and pixlated to use,  Yellow green is best but barely usable,  Green goes all crazy.

In both cases 10 bi is just as bad as full green.

    examples below

    1080i yellow/green

    1080i FUll Green

    30i yellow/green

    30i Full Green

Just wanted to note that I took this exact footage that Greg was having an issue with, and tried it on my MC 8.5.3, and it worked like it should. Full yellow was fuzzy (but still OK), and then every step up from there was clear and more sharp. So it's an 8.6 issue...

One thing to consider about DNx HR.  I do not think it supports interlace material.  I think anything interlace gets treated as progressive.  This can cause real quality issues at times.

    Take a look at that.

Re: Poor Resolution in DNx HR LB

I actual did have the same issue with 4k in 23.98 project.  We diged the footage LB 1/16.  In our orginal test it looked the same and had the same raster as 14:1.  So the guys diged about a months worth of footage.  Once it got to Edit the lead starting scream he could never cut with what he was given.

So we rediged everything at regular LB.

Then I noticed what I noted above..

Long story short it's happing in progressive also.

tomoorow I'll grab screen grabs from that.

Ouch.  Seems like something is really amiss with DNx HR in the 8.6.x family.

The interlace thing really stumped me on a recent project.  Took awhile for figure it out.  But I am still on 8.5 2 ....

Were any transforms being done via source settings?

Most are New MacPro 12 core or 8 Core 2012 MacPros with 24+ Gb Ram nvidia gtx 1070 [view my complete system specs]

Zero transforms are being done. Straight up clip in the Viewer will do this.  Again, in 8.6, but not in 8.5.
